I just heard about American Gangster, which stars Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe and is directed by Ridley Scott.

Denzel plays a big time heroin dealer in the 70s, who ships heroin into New York from Vietnam, inside the coffins of dead soldiers. Crowe plays the outcast cop who tries to bring him down. It's now number one on my must see list. It should be a beauty.

Here's the official site: http://www.americangangster.net/

I saw the trailer a while back. And for some reason it didn't blow my skirt up. Not that I'm in the habit of wearing skirts, but if I were, it wouldn't have been blown up. It doesn't look bad, it just doesn't look interesting. Could be good though.

I doubt Denzel and Russell would sign on for something that's not going to kick a$$. Ridley Scott is usually pretty good value too. Ever since "Man of Fire' I've been up for seeing everything Denzel does and Russell Crowe is usually pretty discerning about the roles he takes. Anyway, it's been awhile since I've been pumped up to see something, so I hope this doesn't let me down.

I just watched the trailer and didn't get a seventies vibe off it.  With the exception of the cars, I wouldn't have guessed it was set for thirty years ago.  Where's the seventies hair-do's and clothing?  No period slang.  And, of course, the music.  It sounded like hip hop.

Saw the trailer in the movie theater today. I agree with Phil, I didn't get any 70's vibe from it at all.

I do think the trailer looked pretty interesting though.
