Looks like Billy Bob will be puttin on them razor blade fingers.  This could be genies or something absolutely horrid, either way I'm in for it, even if it is awful it won't be boring.

"Billy Bob Thornton will star as Freddy Krueger in a new Nightmare On Elm Street movie.

The 53-year-old actor will take on the chilling role in a remake of the 1984 original.

Robert Englund, who played the part in eight films, revealed that Thornton will star in the horror films and is an "excellent choice" for the role.

He adds, "A big budget should mean the film will look a lot better than some of the old movies." "

Why not Englund?  It was, essentially, his character.  A much as I like Thorton, I think he's going to change the character to much.

You never know. Personally, I thought Groundskeeper Willie did an okay job as Freddy.

Ha ha, you're funny sniper. Took me a second to figure out what you were talking about, but I finally got it.

I feel as though if I see this, I might find if funny rather than scary...Though, Freddy is a big joker, so I guess it won't make much of a difference. But I'd rather have Englund do it, since he's done it 8 times, he actually knows how to do it.

I never saw much wrong with the original other than the usual early horror flaws but remaking them does not seem to change much in that they copy the film and change minor things.

In the original I found a few problems with the way the parents acted regarding Freddy. Can they not do it so that the whole town is involved? The adults anyway... do they hate the kids that much that they want them to die?

The scene where Freddy comes out of the wall/ceiling is a decent effect for the time and all they did was stretch spandex across the wall.

That's the American film industry though.

Hmmm... The only way I can see this working is if the remake is more of an origins story.
