By now I think it's pretty much a fact that Tim Burton is one of the most visually extraordinary filmmakers working today. There's no one else like him and from the looks of the funky photos that USAToday has aquired (which can be viewed here) it looks like his updated version of the classic Lewis Carroll story Alice in Wonderland won't disappoint.

The flick has one hell of an impressive cast, including Johnny Depp, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Sheen, Christopher Lee, Anne Hathaway and Timothy Spall. It hits screens March, 2010.

I'm fairly certain this flick will give a lot of kids nightmares.

Does anyone remember the big uproar when "Nightmare Before Christmas" came out, cause I sure do.  But then again, I lived in the bible belt.

It's really not Alice in Wonderland though. It seems to be a sort of sequel.

Considering I'm a Burton whore, I gobbled up both the pics and the trailer. I've been following this film since it was first announced and I can't wait til its release.

Still waiting for someone to properly 'do' Alice in Wonderland, without feeling the need to arbitrarily move stuff around. Let's be clear: this isn't really 'Alice in Wonderland'. It isn't even 'Through the Looking Glass'. As Julio says, it's a kind of sequel that uses the same characters but comes up with its own story.

Don't get me wrong - I LOVE Tim Burton. He's incredible, and when this was announced I couldn't contain my excitement. I'm sure this'll be a great film. But I'm disappointed that it's not a true adaptation of a bizarre, classic book.

Guess who's back? Back again?

I'm not a Burton fan but this does look rather good. From what I've read I'd say JB is right on the on the money. Hopefully this won't be another Planet of the Apes.

I actually read the original book. I think it's too short to make into a feature length film. It's inevitable that they'd mix and match it with Through The Looking Glass. Anyway, this looks pretty badass. I hated the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory remake but still, Depp and Burton are good at what they do. Even if it's not the best adaptation, I think they'll bring a fresh perspective to the table. So far, it looks like a good one.

I think Beetlejuice and that Johny Depp one(hmmm) are the only Burton films I can say I actually like. I haven't been pleased with his latest work, but maybe this one is diffrenete.
