I love the comics and am currently on number 11, I think. From what I hear, it looks like this is only going to be a 6-parter, but I'm not exactly sure. I'm really curious as to see how different they'll make it from the original comics. I want to give it a watch though. This will be the first zombie TV series I'll see!

AMC has ordered six episodes which will be considered the first season. I doubt AMC will pass on a second season. I know what I'm going to be doing on Halloween night (watching the shit out of this show).
Though earth and man are gone, I thought the cube would last forever. I WAS WRONG.
Me too. Maybe not on Halloween night, since I want to go Trick 'r' Treating instead. But I'll record it and watch it the next day. I just hope they stick with all that characterization that they had in the comics, and not just all zombie and people trying to survive. The comic books actually make you feel for the characters.
This show looks really good actually. Coming from a guy who watches zombie films and hates pretty much all of them.
Maybe that washed up hack George Romero should make Tv Shows about zombies.
Wouldn't that give him a chance to bombard and overwhelm us with consumerism and racism and all those messages he rubs in our faces with his zombie films?
So AMC seems to be pretty darn confident in The Walking Dead, since IGN is reporting that it has officially been picked up for a thirteen episode second season, a full two months before the series premiere.
I can't live the buttoned-down life like you. I want it all. The dizzying highs, the terrifying lows, the creamy middles. Sure, I may offend some of the blue bloods with my cocky stride and musky odors. Oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called "city fathers," who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards and talk about what's to be done with this Homer Simpson?
I only read the first four pages, but the opening scene is fuicking awesome! My anticipation for this show has just doubled.

I'm not sure if this is kosher or completely inappropriate, but the pilot has been leaked online and can be viewed on Megavideo. You guys might wanna get it while it's hot.

That's a pretty poorly written script. Missing words + lack of space. Intermittent thoughts during action slugs. Atrociously laid out title sequence. Just horrific. Wow... This script should give many some hope.
Well I have to say I caved and streamed the pilot, and I gotta say I'm pretty impressed. I did not read the script, I had never even heard of the graphic novels until Darabont joined this project, so as a complete outsider I'm saying it's goddamn awesome. I'm not a zombie fan, basically I think they're just mentally defective versions of Hannibal Lecter and the big scenes with hordes of them scrambling over one another and shuffling along in that weird way they do just doesn't cut it for me normally.
What's different about this show is that the focus is shifted much, much more into the human characters. When the zombies are around, they're used to great (and surprisingly emotional) effect. They're scary and a lot of them are really gross and deformed without being too over-the-top and cartoonish. The main surprise to me though was Andrew Lincoln, who portrays the main character. He gives quite a powerful performance as a very confused, very isolated man who suddenly finds himself in such a bizarre and unimaginable situation. I had him pegged as typical all American man of action character, but there appears to be a lot of layers to him. Lincoln's performance is quite, yet effective.
So this does what any good pilot does, which is give you a good story in and of itself, at the same time giving substantial promise to what is to come. Boardwalk Empire was a total bust, I'm glad this one has turned out cool. It just sucks that I have to wait six weeks before I can see episode two.

This tv series are gonna be awesome. I can't wait till the premier! I haven't read the graphic novel, but I heard that there's going to be an actual novel on "The Walking Dead". Till these days vampires were awesome, they are still awesome, "The Vampire Diaries", but now it looks like IT'S ZOMBIE TIME
