I was really excited about this one when I first heard the premise and with Kirsten Dunst and Ryan Gosling, what could go wrong? I remember seeing the international trailer awhile back, which really wasn't a very good representation but after this trailer, my excitement is back. Am I the only one though that feels this trailer is kind of poorly put together? Something about it comes off cheap to me, however, looking past that I feel that the trailer might be misleading to the gem this movie could be. Can't wait to see this! Here's the new trailer and poster:

Is that the movie she was doing when you met her?

No, that's "Upside Down", it seems to be still in post production, from what I read about it, it seems it will be pretty special effect driven.

Apparently if anyone's interested in the USA, this movie is now available to rent for a limited time on itunes and VOD before it hits theaters. This would be cool if Canada got it as well... but I'll just have to wait, my limited film release life story (common' Canada! >). If anyone does give it a go, let me know how it is! Oscar contender?

Does this not disqualify it from the Oscars?

A movie needs to have a 7 day theatre run in an L.A. cinema before it is released in any other format to be eligible for the Oscar nomination. I have searched for a release date for this and it seems to be a bit vague. 3rd December is the only date I found.

It is possible they have released quietly in a small theatre however but there is no date on IMDB.

I do like Ryan Gosling a lot, but this from wikipedia does not sound too hopeful...

Quoted Text
The film was originally set for release on July 24, 2009. In Spring 2009, the film was delayed. Rumor was that The Weinstein Company could not release the film due to financial issues. However, an insider from The Weinstein Company stated that, "the movie is really strong. We just needed more time to complete it." Soon after, the film was set to release on December 11, 2009, only to be delayed again indefinitely. The Weinstein Company released their upcoming film slate, with All Good Things listed for a March 2010 release. This never materialized. In March 2010, director Andrew Jarecki, bought back the US distribution rights and is searching for a new distributor for the film. The Weinstein Company still holds the international rights, as well as basic cable television rights. As of August 24, 2010, Magnolia Pictures has acquired the American rights to the film and plan on giving the film a theatrical release on December 03, 2010.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing, according to the IMDB boards (not the most reliable source but, hey!) and apparently the film was screened in a few theaters earlier. I know this movie has been on the shelf for nearly two years, they kept pushing the date back and always intended on releasing it to be an award contender.
