Rosenrot on Amazon.com

Rosenrot is the as of yet unreleased follow-up to their previous CD Reise, Reise. Comprised mainly of tracks that they felt didn't fit the theme of Reise, that's not to say this is nothing more than extra tracks. I was expecting it to be nothing spectacular, it was touted mostly as just a B-sides disc. But so far Rammstein has yet to let me down, and their streak continues. Even their unreleased track Das Modell, which the band personally dislikes enough to have pulled the music video and have yet to go forward with an actual release of the track itself, is good as well.

The disc has yet to be released, and chances are it will be some time before an actual North American release. Until then you'll have to import it. I managed to get ahold of the disc now months ahead of its release thanks to a friend who knows these things. Sometimes it's good to know people.

If you're a Rammstein fan, or just a fan of this type of music, you owe it to yourself to pick up a copy of this CD as soon as it hits your respective continent. Those living in parts of Europe will get it early, but the rest of us will have to wait. For those willing to shell out a bit more you can pick up a limited edition release that includes a DVD featuring several live performances.

Interesting note, the CD art is the same as the Japanese release of Reise, Reise. It was changed because the theme of Reise was based on the Japan Airlines flight 123 crash. A hidden track on Reise, Reise was the last thirty seconds of the flight recorder, and the CD art was based on the plane's black box ("Flugrekorder//nicht öffnen", written on the cover, means "Flight recorder//do not open"). Just thought it was kind of interesting.

Track Listing:
1. Benzin
2. Mann Gegen Mann
3. Rosenrot
4. Spring
5. Wo Bist Du
6. Stirb Nicht Vor Mir/Don't Die Before I Do (Feat. Sharleen Spiteri)
7. Zerstoren
8. Hilf Mir
9. Te Quiero Puta
10. Feuer Und Wasser
11. Ein Lied

December 6th, 2005

Rosenrot officially released today.

I've had the tracks for some time (as I said, good to know people), but now that the disc has been officially released this side of the big puddle we call the ocean I figured it deserved a review (and a decent purchase, support your artists children).

Overall, it's as good as I had hoped it would be. If you can find it, I would recommend shelling out the extra couple of bucks for the limited edition release that comes with the bonus DVD. It features three clips from the upcoming live DVD. You could always wait for the full DVD to come out, but if you like Rammstein go with the limited edition. The three clips, I have to say, are some of the best I've seen. Especially Sonne, that one was insane.

CD
1. Benzin - 3.5/4
2. Mann Gegen Mann - 3.5/4
3. Rosenrot - 4/4
4. Spring - 4/4
5. Wo Bist Du - 4/4 - Best track on the disc.
6. Stirb Nicht Vor Mir/Don't Die Before I Do (Feat. Sharleen Spiteri) - 2/4 - German singer Bobo, who worked with the band previously, does the female vocals in one version which I think would have been much better.
7. Zerstoren - 3.5/4
8. Hilf Mir - 4/4
9. Te Quiero Puta - 3/4
10. Feuer Und Wasser - 3/4
11. Ein Lied - 4/4

DVD
1. Reise, Reise (Arenes De Nimes, Nimes, France 7/2005)
2. Mein Teil (Club Citta, Kangawa, Japan 6/2005)
3. Sonne (Brixton Academy, London, UK 2/2005)

The thing I hate about groups in the metal genre is that they cannot release longer albums, 11 songs is barely worth 9.99 CAD but they try to charge 14.99.

If we go by what legal music downloads like I Tunes it's 1 dollar per song so if they want to stick it in our asses they better be one hell of a good band and even than I don't think it's worth the money.
