Just a heads up that you may see odd things going on on the boards. I'm making changes in preparation for a migration to a new discussion board framework. So, temporarily some moderator titles have disappeared and all the mods are now administrators.
Bear with.
Don
P.S. this has nothing to do with the 'SS is dying' bullshit. It has to do with I can't see the boards on my smartphone and want to move to a more mobile friendly version.
OMG (I'm pretty sure I've never, in my life, been this shocked) we're moving to a new board! The 21st Century is going to hit the simplyscripts universe... at last!
Good luck with the move over, Don. At least this forum doesn't have a load of images so it should be a fairly simple process. Although, it's been over a decade since I've done anything like this myself so it may be very easy these days.
With this news it seems SS isn't dying at all but, rather, being born again.

Good luck... and thank you.
The conversion will not be quick or easy. I spent several hours at it and rage quite several times. The current board is very old and I'm getting errors each. step. of. the. way.
Also, if anyone cares, I'm moving to Simple Machines.
Ah, of course, this is not exactly popular forum software. The popular ones have ready-made scripts to switch from one to the other. I remember IPB and vBulletin it being a simple process of importing a file through the admin side. The long way was by way SSH commands. The hard bit, I remember was not in getting the old posts into the new database but getting them to also correlate with the members. A real headache, especially when you have real work to do.
Good luck with solving it, I'm sure you will get there.
Simple Machines looks great and well-supported. I happened to notice your thread on the member group issue too -- it's always the membergroups, although heaps of images will always break a database too. I hope the issues are solved now.
That they have a conversion script for e-blah says something. I can't believe people are still suffering the same old problems when converting from one software to another.
Nightmare, mate. Just looking over your thread again. It doesn't look an easy solve. Perhaps try phpBB who are, I believe, the original in quality free forum software. They were always a fairly decent free option for those not wanting to shell out for vB or IPB.
Good timing to make a change, while people is taking a break. We are all beat up, I guess. I don't know if it is only me, but I never had a more complicated "holidays" as this one. - Family dynamics - Ugrrr;
Aaaaaaaaah! More choices! Thanks, Robert. I'm now already starting to doubt the decision I made about Simple Machines. X-mas ruined!
I don't like change either. I keep rage quitting.

I'm lazy so I would get SimplyScripts.SOMETHING and just setup a completely new board that has social login/account creation and just gradually send everyone over there. LOL
wpForo is a WordPress plugin that creates a forum within WordPress that looks fairly powerful, modern and mobile friendly. However, the import from e-blah is non-existent. You'd have to export from e-blah to one of the ones they support @ https://wpforo.com/docs/root/migrate-to-wpforo/ and then FROM THERE you export to wpForo!
