Solar Wind by Rick Dobbertin - Action, Adventure - As Earth orbits the Sun at over 66,000-mph, it grazes the leading edge of an immense, invisible cloud of inert gases – instantly increasing our rotational speed – and simultaneously leveling every man-made structure on the planet.  When an even larger anomaly is discovered – lying dead ahead – plans must be devised to avert a collision that is certain to reduce our home planet to nothing more than a shooting star. Not every cloud has a silver lining.  111 pages - pdf, format

I was going along pretty good till I found out what Intruder 1 was going to do and did.

Plausibility is big with sci-fi and I just couldn't get around the plausibility of this one.

Nice job for what it is, though.
