Why isn't there a Crime Genre? I wouldn't consider MOB screenplays action or drama.

Well the simple answer would be there is already enough boards, Western's have a board and yet there aren't enough of them but that was than... I think the way it looks crime screenplays usually are drama and or fit into another category perfectly like they have been for about 2 years or so now.

It's just a pain in the you know what for people like me who love reading crime screenplays to have to sift through all the lovey dovey drama and crazy action screenplays to find them. Gangster/Mobster/Crime flicks are a staple of american cinema. I think the reason for someone not wanting to have a crime category has more to do with personal taste.

Thief, Heat, Blow, Gangster No. 1, Knockaround Guys, Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels,
Miami Blues, Narc, Reservoir Dogs, The Score, Snatch and so many more are all category crime and they have a totally different audience.

My reply here is not for me, its for the users that visit this site. It's more enjoyable when you can find what your looking for quickly, instead of sifting through. I know, I have been building websites for 7 years. Thanks for your thoughts.

There's a way to get around the need to sift without having a new forum. When you submit a script you can enter in pretty much whatever you want in the 'Other' category for genre.

Rather than looking through the forum, just go to the Unproduced screenplay page and look at the genre listed in the synopsis. You can find these sorts of scripts that way. Simply put, if you don't find any Crime scripts that way there's no need for a new forum as people aren't listing their scripts as Crime/etc. If you find a script you like, you can click the 'Discuss this screenplay' link beneath the synopsis and it will take you to that script's thread.

Ziggy would probably want a film noir board, Clockwork wants a comic book board, I want a board where we can discuss cooking... What can I say.

Depending on how you write, a crime story can fit a number of genres, drama, comedy, action, horror.  There's no need to give it its own board.

I want a board on homebrewing....

Can we create a board for the discussion of making new boards. That seems like a very common topic.

No, I think he means a board for discussing a board for the discussion of making new boards. Sure, everyone asks for a new board, but rather than flat out asking, there could be a new board for just discussing the need of adding a new board for discussing this topic. With one more board, I'm sure we won't create too big a quagmire of boards. And one more...and one more...and one more...

I think there should be a board discussing the possibility of creating a board for discussing the possibility of creating a board for discussing the possibility of...

Oh, never mind.

Since that's what we're doing than I guess that's what this board is... Now anyway.

Hmm, I smell burgeoning bureaucracy.
