Wesley's name is in red is a result of the last board update and because I've been exploring the settings along with the new update. Wesley is the substitute admin when I go on vacation or when I'm away from the boards for a long period of time. The new update allows to color admins and sub(stitute) admins so that new folks who come to the boards can easily identify them to ask questions.
Not sure if I'm going to keep this. Wesley may not take kindly to being an obvious target.
Wesley's already an obvious target. In the Portal, he's at the top of the post list. Besides, how can you miss a guy with 3000+ posts, when the next one behind him is the admin of the board?
I noticed the redness before I went to work last night but never got around to saying anything. It's interesting though.
Good use of colour on the boards anyway, the theme I'm using is basically this very light blue/gray thing and with a bright blue it almost demands attention.

Very true, George. I'm still getting the hang of the new functionality associated with the board upgrade. I still have some outstanding issues, e.g., users can't change themes. As for Wesley's post count, Wesley was one of the first people to join the board and has consistently stuck around all these years.
Do these updates allow for moderators to have a different color? I've seen this done on other forums.
Unfortunatly, no. Section moderators, as far as I am able to determine, can't have their own colors. The only 'cool' thing a section moderator gets is pretty green stars below their name on the section that they moderate. compare:
The color thing, apparently, only works when you have global privileges. Wesley's privileges are the sames as privileges a section moderator has. The only difference is that Wesley's privileges extends across the whole board rather than just a section.
