"The only thing that will redeem mankind is cooperation."
-Bertand Russell on the negative outcome of using nuclear weapons during a time of war between two countries.
"I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's work, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TV's while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be. We know things are bad - worse than bad. They're crazy... ...You've got to say, 'I'm a HUMAN BEING, Goddamnit! My life has VALUE!' So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell, 'I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!'"
-Howard Beale, "Network"
My two favorite quotes, and I believe they apply to these boards now more than ever. I've been here for about three years. Every so often, things would sort of come apart at the seems, but life would continue. Now, though, it seems that everyone just wants to fight, criticize or, hell, even maim. I always try to stay neutral. I never fight. I never argue. I look and I listen. But now things seem to be coming down to an all time low... and I do not have any one real solution.
All I can really say is can't we all just get along? Life has a habit of frequently sucking, why bring it on to these boards? Can't we have script and chatter and friendship? Adult or "kid," I just don't think it really matters. I'm 19. I qualify as both I think. Andrew, Guy... please stop fighting. Alan... there's a place for anime. It's not for me, but I know there's a place. If people don't want to hear about it, just move on. Andy... you really are the den mother on these boards, and I truly think that you keep everyone sane. A very large kudos for that.
There will always be hope for these boards because even when arguing, I think everyone learns something. To quote Mr. Douglas Adams, "Perhaps I'm old and tired, but I think that the chances of finding out what's actually going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say, 'Hang the sense of it,' and keep yourself busy. I'd much rather be happy than right any day."
Let's all let the trite, little arguments go... and let's bring a sense of normality to these boards again... agreed?
Syco, well articulated my friend. Interesting quote, thanks for that. Never come across it before, but it's a fitting one.
As Helio said, well done for how you expressed yourself. This is what it all comes down to. Maturity. Not age.
Thank you for thinking so highly of me. I truly am shocked that I "sanitise" the forum, LMAO, no, probably not the right wordage there at all when it comes to me and my humour.. and Mike's and Bert's and Phil's..., plus it doesn't make sense, but you know what I mean and I like that if it's true...
Hope everyone has a good weekend, gets to blow off some steam, watches at least one good movie and hears one song which makes them smile. Perhaps a couple of days of chilling out is in order
Syco made a very fair post, please do not bash him for it. He was articulate and well mannered and has never disrepected you, so please show him that same courtesy. If you got it, why didn't you just say nothing then? You had your say in the other thread, he's entitled to give his too.

That's an excellent idea!
I haven't posted on one of these, "I can't take it anymore!" threads, because, it really is not something that hinders me or helps me.I enjoy this board immensely and I have learned more here than at any other site to date.Though I understand the way so many people feel here, and I agree on so many fronts, but I also understand that this is a community and that is just the dynamic.
Everyone, let's enjoy this experience, learn from each other, be courteous and just keep writing! I agree with what Wes said, it will make a good script, all this in-fighting and all.
I also agree with George in stating that if the content of a thread bothers you, make a statement trying to sway it back on topic or just avoid it altogether. Some of us have better things to do then consume our fragile little fingers, typing away, replying to these discussions.Which reminds me, I have work to do!
Thanks to all and thanks to Don for putting up with the strange breed that is "The Writer".
Later.

Not sure you are aware of this, but there are hundreds and hundreds, maybe even a thousand scripts available for free here at Simply Scripts. Some are really, really great and some are really bad. You know what? You can learn from both. Even more amazing is that this awsome guy that runs this site for free for us in his spare time, lets us post our own scripts here.
You can read scripts and you can have your own read here! Isn't that awsomeous?
Just thought I remind you guys in case some of you had forgot.
You are the one who started this whole mess with your big post about how you were sick and tired of this site being mean towards new comers and how thats all you got when you first came here.
Maybe you took it a bit to far, and now, look what happened...because of you. >
I'm takin' a break from this place for a while and then I'll come back and see what happens. Thanks Don for a great site, you rock! Thanks to all of those who read my screenplays and helped me out.

Just wanted to re-iterate this thanks Tomson, you are more to the point than I am!

You, H.D., are a pot-stirrer -- I don't think you do it intentionally, but you should try to stop.
Look at the posts -- first, there is SyCo's long-winded but well-intentioned post
-- then Helio, doing -- whatever -- but still positive
-- then Andy spreading a little sunshine
-- then Wes, not bitching at anyone for a change
Then you. Then it starts.
Think more before you post. Then think again. I don't think you are trying to start arguments, but you are -- and a lot of this nonsense over the past couple of days rests in your pockets.
couple months ago i started a "Slasher Flicks" thread and i got straight up told "This is lame" - the person who said that wasn't called out for being rude... infact everyone agreed.. now this "lame rehash" thread gets started... and i call it out..and i'm the @sshole??
sorry, but i''m not leaving....
i'm gonna say what i think... and if that bothers you....
Well hopefully everone will just ignore you then. I, for one, do not like you at all. You've caused nothing but trouble since you got here. So I'm gonna straight up tell you..."Your lame."
I have never seen Andy put out with anyone, H.D. Not even a little. Not ever.
As for not leaving, you can bet that Don likes Andy alot more than he does you.
Just don't post for a while unless you've got something positive to say, you know? It's not that hard.
Your brand of sarcasm is not translating well on these boards.
go to any board where i've read a script... and you'll see something positive. go to the Adult Thread and you'll see something positve... Abbatior, Frempior Chronicals, Suicide, house of god.... thats to name a few
"There was a man who was not kind to animals. One day when he was hunting, he found a rattlesnake and decided to torture it. He held its head to the ground and pierced it with a piece of bark. Then as it was caught there, he tormented it.
"We shall fight," he said and then burned the snake until it was dead. He thought this was a great jest and so, whenever he found a snake, he would do the same thing.
One day another man from his village was walking through the forest when he heard a strange sound. It was louder than the wind hissing through the tops of tall pine trees. He crept closer to see. There, in a great clearing, were many snakes. They were gathered for a war council and as he listened in fright he heard them say:
"We shall now fight with them. Djisdaah has challenged us and we shall go to war. In four days we shall go to their village and fight them."
The man crept away and then ran as fast as he could to his village to tell what he had heard and seen. The chief sent other men to see if the report was true. They returned in great fright.
"Ahhhh," they said, "it is so. The snakes are all gathering to have a war."
The chief of the village could see that he had no choice. "We must fight," he said and ordered the people of the village to make preparations for the battle. They cut mountains of wood and stacked it in long piles all around the village. They built rows of stakes close together to keep the snakes out. When the fourth day came, the chief ordered that the piles of wood be set on fire. Just as he did so they heard a great noise, like a great wind in the trees. It was the noise of the snakes, hissing as they came to the village to do battle.
Usually a snake will not go near a fire, but these snakes were determined to have their revenge. They went straight into the flames. Many of them died, but the living snakes crawled over the bodies of the dead ones and continued to move forward until they reached the second row of stakes.
Once again, the chief ordered that the piles of wood in the second row of defense be set on fire. But the snakes crawled straight into the flames, hissing their war songs, and the living crawled over the bodies of the dead. It was a terrible sight. They reached the second row of stakes and, even though the people fought bravely, it was no use. The snakes were more numerous than fallen leaves and they could not be stopped. Soon they forced their way past the last row of stakes and the people of the village were fighting for their lives. The first man to be killed was Djisdaah, the one who had challenged the snakes to battle.
It was now clear that they could never win this battle. The chief of the village shouted to the snakes who had reached the edge of the village: "Hear me, my brothers. We surrender to you.
We have done you a great wrong. Have mercy on us."
The snakes stopped where they were and there was a great silence.
The exhausted warriors looked at the great army of snakes and the snakes stared back at them. Then the earth trembled and cracked in front of the human beings. A great snake, a snake taller than the biggest pine tree, whose head was larger than a great long house, lifted himself out of the hole in the earth
"Hear me," he said. "I am the chief of all the snakes. We shall go and leave you in peace if you will agree to two things."
The chief looked at the great snake and nodded his head. "We will agree, Great Chief," he said.
"It is well," said the Chief of the Snakes. "These are the two things. First, you must always treat my people with respect. Secondly, as long as the world stands, you will never name another man Djisdaah."
Look at the posts -- first, there is SyCo's long-winded but well-intentioned post
Yeah, sorry about that. I take no offense to the long windedness, as I do it often.
As for the rest, well, sorry. I saw that the other threads were becoming just rampant sessions of name calling... so I thought I would start a new one that begins positive and maybe it would have an effect on the posts to come. I was wrong. I won't lock this because I don't want anyone thinking I'm trying to get the last word in. However, I am dissapointed.
Psycho, good post. Well said. I'm locking this, not because I don't want people to express themselves, but rather it appears that Psycho's original discussion has run its course. I think that Psycho 's last post bookends the thread very nicely.
Thoughts:
Seriously, folks. Can we stop with the name calling?
