I've changed my mind...again.

I will send in a super short.

So that makes five of us.

I look forward to picking out stuff to send. Already know what it'll be too.

Great!

The super short I sent in is my first actual "serious" script I've ever written. No comedy, spirits, or monsters of any kind. It's a bittersweet drama that will hopefully make you want to call your mom and say, "I love you".

Any hints as to what anyone else is sending in?

Mine is dark and disturbing... Big surprise there.

Question...
What happens if there is a tie for the highest score?

Okay, two questions...
Will both of them get the souvenier thingy?

Good question!  Errrr...questions.

Scoring is based on the following:  story/structure; dialogue; character; feasability and; ending.  Feasibility deals with how easy it would be to film.  I propose that, in the event of a tie, we subtract this score.

Another way is to decide the winner on the highest score of the two judges.

Hi guys and gals,

We decided our prize for the Simply Scripts writer with the highest score is a copy of Great Dialogue Software (http://www.greatdialogue.com)!  They have recently come on board as a sponsor and we're delighted to have them!  If the SS writer with the highest score ALSO wins the Grand Prize or the 1st Place in the Super Short category, that writer will get GDS with their prize and we will give the copy to the SS writer with the 2nd highest score.  How exciting!

In case anyone still wants to enter, our late deadline is this Wednesday, November 14 and our absolute last deadline is Monday, December 3.

Thanks and good luck!

How many entries do you have, or expect, this time around, Erica (not just from SS but from everywhere)?

Phil, I entered one as I mentioned in the other thread.
I wanted to know whether you can enter two scripts? Do you know?
Cheers,
Elisabeth

Hello again,

Elisabeth: Submitting a second script is okay by our competition and since Pia submitted two, I think it is okay by your mini-competition too.

Phil: We don't give out stats before the cycle ends, but email me then and I will let you know.  I will say that entries are usually lower in this cycle of the year and this year is no different.  Perhaps it is the economy or just people saving up for the holidays.  Super short entries are way up, however.  Perhaps that is because your super short won the Grand Prize last cycle.

Late Deadline today, 11/14/07.  Best of luck!

Kindest Regards,

Erica Engelhardt

I've never heard of a competition where you can only enter one script.  In regards to the mini-competition that we're having, I don't see a problem with multiple entries.  There is, after all, only one prize to win, here.

I'd like to take full credit for the new trend in submission entries.  Thank you.  Thank you.  Thank you.

I wasn't sure thanks for clarifying.

Today, I received a DVD of the Gimme Credit Cycle 1 winner, a short entitled, My Wife Is A Zombie.  Watching this short was much like reading one of Helio's scripts.

I don't mean this in any bad way, mind you.  The winning writer is an Italian writer and his 'foreign influence' is very apparent in the story.  You can tell that the script was not written by an American.

I purchased the little trinket today. It's a keepsake/trophy sort of thing for the highest score.

The super short winners are supposed to be announced on Saturday, and so are the finalists for the shorts.

Good luck everyone,
Cindy

Cindy,

Aren't you supposed to wait until the scores are released before you buy a trinket?
What if you won?

I just wanted to make sure that I had it. It's just a little something (Christmas ornament, a snowflake).
They had free engraving, too, so I made the girl nuts   and had

"2007
Highest Score
S.S./Gimme Credit"

engraved on it.
It took her two tries on two different ornaments to make it decent looking. So I bought the crappy looking one, too, and disposed of it. She laughed nervously when she was done, said she usually only puts a name on one, and said she was ready for her break.
