Sounds pretty good! I'm excited to see this thing unfold with the competition for director and so on. It's a really cool idea and it's going to be neat to see the whole thing finished. I hope they have more of these competitions, great marketing device, really gets a lot of the community involved. Kudos Lionsgate.
The winning script is a walking amalgamation of 5 other scripts... Not to mention the 1st 4 pages, title page aside, were littered with amateur writing.
- (continued) at the bottom of the page. - The writer never double spaced after the period. Ever. - One line was simply a character action within a character cue. - The writer was ineffective while using the elipse and didn't space after it.
& most importantly, it just wasn't funny. I'd hope that the "powers that be" read more than what was submitted before they made their final decision. I couldn't believe it won, to be honest. Then again, this is Lions Gate.
Moving on --> Comedy, not my thing. I have one. But it'd never be made in a million years. Too many people would have to sign off on it -- With that said, it's better than what won. I'd venture to say some of the entries I've just skimmed through here are better than the winners. Seeing things like this make me want to get back into writing full time again, though.
Anyways, I do congratulate the winner, cos that's a tough nut to crack. But I see a lot of people there being upset with her, though. Was the contest not fair? What was the gist of it?
