If you're interested in doing this challenge - the last challenge of the year - post your script via the normal upload on the site by Dec 31st.

You must put "URBAN LEGENDS" in the comment box on the upload form.

This is not an anonymous challenge so include your name on your script.

Don will post them sometime early in January - they'll be in their own board probably under the OWC section.

Remember, take one of the Urban Legends found via this link.

http://www.snopes.com/horrors/horrors.asp

Write a 5 to 10 page screenplay and put your own spin on it - I want to see your voice shine in what you've written.

Pia and I were chatting about a new idea for a series type challenge (like Soulshadows).   The subject of this challenge, Urban Legends.   There's so many Urban Legends so there will be plenty to write about.   Here's a good source.

http://www.snopes.com/horrors/horrors.asp

And those are only the horror ones.

I think the writing time should be about one week and we should make the page count around 5-10 pages because that's a good festival range.

Who's interested?  We want to start this soon, maybe by the end of the week.

Your timing probably needs a little work, with Christmas Sunday, and with (possibly) a OWC in a few weeks.

So that means there's plenty of time for a challenge.

I need to write something or I will go crazy. I'm in. Are we doing this in a series style or more like an OWC?

I would say more like an OWC.   Theme being an urban legend.  Then we can post them with the title prefixed by "Legends:"  to give them a series feel (and to know which ones to read).

I can maybe convince Don to put them all on their own board - if we get enough participants that is....

Though he might not be around so the titles might be the way we go...  Either way, I'll try to get him to post them all at the same time.

I'd love to take part.  I've done 3 OWC's here under "wannabe".  After a haitus I've rejoined with a new approach, deciding to put cyber ear muffs on if people get too argumentative with each other.

Excellent!  Of course, everyone is welcome.  Should be fun.  I think the real challenge will be to give the legend your own unique spin.

Ha. I just had an idea I wanted to suggest as a new SS anthology series. But if there's one truism in this business, it's that being first is everything.

Guess who's back? Back again?

Welcome back, Marnie, and your approach is the correct one.

I tend to think that SS/MP cross-pollination is a good thing -- but the sites are so different that writers sometimes get culture-shock when moving from one to the other.

MP is like a quiet martini bar for writers -- while SS is more like Dave & Busters -- but I enjoy the variety and have gotten a lot from both sites.

As for the urban legends thing, it sounds cool, and I will try to read some for sure.

That's a great idea, alas at a dreadful time of  the year for me, in terms of capacity - Christmas, mother in law visiting, kids, away over new year, the mother in law visiting(I'm over that really).

Will see what I can put together.

Even if I don't enter it starts me thinking and the urban legends is a nice theme.

My scripts  HERE

The Elevator Belonging To Alice - Semi Final Bluecat, Runner Up Nashville
Inner Journey - Page Awards Finalist - Bluecat semi final
Grieving Spell - winner - London Film Awards.  Third - Honolulu
Ultimate Weapon - Fresh Voices - second place

Since it's a busy time of year, you've gotten nearly a whole other week to do the script.   And it's easy to find a story to write about.  You can certainly squeeze in 5-10 pages.

How's everyone else doing?
