Movie titles cannot be copyrighted.  Trademarking is even trickier.

Like, there are so many movies called Possesion and off the top of my head I know there are two Twilight films.  One is about a sparkly thing with bad hair and the other stars Gene Hackman and is about a retired cop.

As long as the plot isn't the same, then you're coolywooly.

Quoted from Ledbetter
So it's okay to use a movie name even if its been used before?

You can use it as long as it's not a trademarked or completely original title.  Double Indemnity is a common phrase.  A legal term.  The Blair Witch Project is not.

Hollywood often recycles movie titles:

That's one of my major personal pet peeves.

Shawn, Just call it "Only God Forgives".

Er, wait.  Ryan Gosling got that one.

Never mind.

Okay!

Thanks everyone for the input.

I entered it today as WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU.

I also put it in the PAGE AWARDS today as well.

Let the comps begin...

Best of luck to all who enter.

There's a lot of fine writers here. I hope to see one of us at the top.

I have the one that's going to sweep everything next year. Trust me, it'll be the greatest script ever conceived. I just... haven't thought of a plot yet. Or, characters. Or, even, really a theme. But, trust me, it'll be amazing. You just watch... =)

***JUST A REMINDER***

This is it!!!

Last day to get them in...

Both NICHOLL & PAGE AWARDS are due today!

They expect 1000 plus scripts to be submitted TODAY alone...

If you're a last minute submitter, you might want to start a little early as to not have a last second delay...

Good luck everyone.

As I used to say before I lost all my money at cards, "I'm in". (Nicholl's, not Page)

Didn't succeed in getting my scripts where I wanted them, but I'll be ready for 2014 d@mn it!

If I can sneak into the quarters again this year, that's cool.

Good luck everyone.

I'm in as well, with the least commercial script ever.  Not sure why I bothered, but then it's not doing much sat in my hard drive.

Good luck, guys!
