Starting a new thread here for this super cool news.
Normally I wouldn't, but I fear OWCness will bury this lead for our members.

---> CALLING ALL FEMALE WRITERS! <---

Carson posted this addendum to his latest blog entry this morning...

UPDATE: Calling all female screenwriters – we want YOU to submit your best work
for an upcoming Amateur Offerings Weekend that will showcase scripts written
exclusively by women! Send a PDF of your script along with the title, genre, logline,
and a ‘why you should read’ section in an email to carsonreeves3@gmail.com ASAP!

I know some women that better get busy with the submissions!
Between OWC reads, submit a script for Ladies Week!

Regards,
E.D.

Send Stream over, Janet. I was being honest when I said that despite the two, small issues that I had with the script, that it was still one of the best amateur scripts I had read in a long time

I don't have any polished scripts, Brett and I highly doubt that he would enjoy my "brand".

Boo.
Don't make me fly to Florida and press that send button for you.

This is a truly awesome opp.
Simply Scripts has a squad of lethal lady writers.
I'm looking at you... Pia, Janet, Dena, Breanne and Cindy!

Regards,
Brett

C'mon ladies. It's free. And what do you have to lose.

Not that I have an entry but I certainly can't figure out how to navigate that website and what's it all about. I see a thread on SS now and then that this and that has been selected and can't find any discussions on scriptshadow later.
Scriptshadow is like an enigma to me. I'm serious.
Like now - where do I see the entries? Where do I see this invitation for ladies?

Hey Toby -

Thanks!!    Actually, I've sent over Territory...while I'm happy with Stream, I actually think Territory has things that Stream doesn't...and can appeal to a wider audience, too.

...I'd submit both, but I have a feeling Carson wouldn't look too kindly on that.

- But everyone, PLEASE keep your fingers crossed!!  And Pia, Breanne, Dena and Khamanna - you guys shoot for this too!

Thanks Brett! And Don, too.

I guess I could send something over. He'll probably hate it, but like you said, what have I got to lose? I mean, the worst thing that could happen is I get publicly skewered, lose all confidence, descend into a deep depression, and travel a path of self destruction culminating in my tragic suicide! But then I risk that every time I leave the house, so count me in.

I'm a long time follower and poster  on Scriptshadow under the user name gazrow. There's no rule to say you can't submit more than one script for Amateur Friday. Sure, if you were to submit twenty scripts, Carson may feel a little peeved. But you're only talking about two scripts!

Also, it's worth noting, that what may appeal to a wider audience doesn't always appeal to Carson!

So go for it! Send Stream in as well! It's a fantastic opportunity!

Okay, okay...  And thanks to Rolo *assuring* me that Carson wouldn't get steamed, I did it.  Now both Territory and Stream are in the running. Thanks for the prodding, guys. We'll have to see how it goes!!

'Course, I'll be far too lonely if Pia, Breanne and Dena don't join me....

@ wonkavite - Glad you sent in Stream too! I wish all you Ladies the very best of luck!

Also, for those of you worried that your script might not be to Carson's taste, I wouldn't mind betting that Mrs. Scriptshadow is at least partially responsible for this excellent opportunity?!

She's been known to do the occasional script review in the Scriptshadow newsletter - So there's a good chance she'll have a say in what five scripts are chosen for the Amateur Offerings Weekend?!

Nice one, Janet! Haven't read Territory, but I am glad you decided to submit Stream as well

And I didn't know that you were Gazrow, Gary. Although looking back, it does make sense
