I entered this one six years ago. If I remember correctly, Doritos judges which commercial to run. It's not the one with the most votes or even the highest vote. If that was the case, then whoever has the most friends in their social media circles would win. Doritos have pro judges looking at the videos. They are judged on quality, creativity and things like that. They still have to pay millions to run the ad during the super bowl. During the game the public can vote on their favorite commercial during the whole game. That means the Budweisers, the car ads, beer ads and anything in between. When the general public started to find out that if the Doritos commercial wins, the filmmakers would win 1 million. And, since that guy or girl is just a regular person and not a corporation, people started to vote for the Doritos commercials. Which IMHO, is why this will be the last year. It's too expensive for Doritos to have their commercial winning every year.
Anyway, just wanted to try to clarify how this works.
