You have to jump through a fair few hoops to get in... I can do everything aside from get an industry pro to write how great I am. I could do that... I just wouldn't want to ask any of them. I see things like that as silly. Perhaps I'm too old for this. I've never really been one for bullshit. They want confirmation of two things produced or optioned. They want a CV. They want a referee. Then they want a writing sample and a 300 word synopsis on a project we're working on right now.
Then there's a race thing afterwards we must pass through. So if too may white people are getting in, they will hold off for a black person... which clearly is not right. Talent is not about colour. If 20 writers get in and they all happen to be white then so be it.
If a certain amount of people must be of a certain colour, then that is racist. It prejudices colour over talent. Colour should not come into it at all. Instead, we have governing bodies ensuring that a certain amount of black people are employed. This means, that even if a white person has more talent, then they will be overlooked if the numbers of black employees needs to be boosted.
Eff it, I can't be arsed with this bullshit. I think this is something for the younger writers... which is also bullshit, and the reason there's so much crap being made.
