I posted this in my other forum and thought it would suit this forum too, in getting to know each-other better.
Moments which have shaped your life thus far - or had profound effects on you.... anyone care to share?
I'd say some of the following fundamental experiences for me, have impacted me the most -
- Changing schools 8 times -> 3 times moving house and dislike of 2 of the schools
- My dog dying, had her for 14 wonderful years
- The importance of my previous 5 year relationship
- The Goonies Event + Goonies in general
- The breakdown of my most recent relationship
- The Internet!
- My holidays in my home country of Cyprus
- Experiencing going to Greek School
- Greek dancing
- Being told in Drama class that I have a comic flair. Thus giving me the idea that I am funny, but then failing miserably when I try. Dammit.
- Thinking the cheetah was a monkey. Then learning he was Tarzan's best friend and in fact the cheetah was not a monkey. Hmmmm, I watched far too many Tarzan films as a kid... it shows. Slow or what?!Add to that, stupid. Today I also learned that Cheetah was a chimpanzee and not even a damn monkey!
- Working at TGI Fridays and discovering men...
- University and realising that Hatfield in Hertfordshire is a government conspiracy to drive students to boredom and therefore making them spend more money to go out in London.
- Travelling on the West Coast for 10 weeks and one day
- Meeting my most recent friend from K.C in June, who re-installed my faith in men! And he's a goonies fan too, yay!
- Realising that I have social anxiety issues
- Making the decision to overcome my social anxiety issues by forcing myself to go travelling.
- Thinking the cheetah was a monkey. Then learning he was Tarzan's best friend and in fact the cheetah was not a monkey. Hmmmm, I watched far too many Tarzan films as a kid... it shows. Slow or what?! Add to that, stupid.
In the Tarzan movies, Tarzan alwaya raced Cheetah through the jungle, to the tree house, to the waterfall, to the local village. And he always beat the chimp. It goes to show that Cheetahs never win.
And the award for the biggest groaner ever delivered in the last day or so goes to...Phil! LOL Phil. Great setup, awesome delivery. You should try writing something...
lol... Didn't even get the joke until I read George's post... I'm really not feeling too sharp today!
Most of my most profound experiences are pretty negative (don't wanna put a downer on your thread so I ain't posting them), which probably points to why I am such as miserable git.
Wow, paying to go travelling was a pretty surreal and profound moment for me. The woman on the phone who was taking my money, was asking me how excited I was. I was like, it hasn't hit me yet, she then asked for my bank details and then it took a matter of seconds for the humongous transaction to go through and THEN it hit me.
I suddenly felt free.
I am very much looking forward to learning more about myself and just discovering new people, places, faces and friends.
Now, what would be a very nice bonus on this trip, would be discovering my own real life lumberjack man... That will indeed be my next profound moment/fantasy come true, lol!
