Hiya everyone,
I'm quite new to all this but i've been reading a few of the screenplays and was surprised by the quality of them.
I'm from England by the way but don't hold that against me.

I'm really into independant and foreign films as i think these tend to be better written as they can't just throw loads of CGI into them and expect you to be impressed.

A few of my favourate films include:
Irriversible
Casshern
City of God
Shaun of the Dead

I do have a question should anyone actually read this; I am currently trying to write my first screenplay and have been for a few months now, I've only completed about 25 pages (free time being a problem) so I was wondering what the average timescale is for people to complete a first draft?

Cheers

Everyone has their speed of writing.  Do whatever works for you.

Hi Alffy!

I love the English.  One of my parakeets is English

As for your first draft question, it varies.  It took me 6 months to get out a first draft of my past two features, not because I wanna wait a while to write it, but because I'm just slow like that.

Don't be discouraged.  Just take your time.

Be excellent to each other

I believe we've already been acquainted but nevertheless... welcome to Simply Scripts. You seem to have started here on the right track already by reading scripts. Hope you enjoy your stay.

In regards to your question, the time it takes to churn out a first draft varies from person to person. Just try to work at a pace you feel is right for you.

Welcome alffy. You ask an interesting question. For a first first draft, I go ahead and mention Vengeance, which I wrote a first draft of in two weeks back in 2001. But how long to finish a script? Well, I revised this same script for the umpteenth time in April of this year. I feel like I getting close to finishing it.

Cheers for all the feedback guys.  I'll stick it out and finish my screenplay and post it but it could be some time yet.  I've been reading a few screenplays here and intend to keep doing so, so i'll leave some feedback when i can.  Already done so for a few, i thought yours were really good James, just started kiss of the locust so i'll no doubt have something to comment on after i finish.
