Joined the boards not that long ago and have been doing a lot of reading but this is my first post.

My name's Brian and I'm from Coatbridge in Scotland. I'm 21 years old and work a boring nine to five job. I'm not the best at spelling or grammar but I'm working hard on it. I watch loads of movies in my spare time, especially cheap horrors or indie films.

This year, I've started writing my own scripts and I'm very close to finishing one I feel very good about. It's a horror called "Neighbourhood Watch". Horror is not my favorite genre, I prefer comedies, but hopefully people on here will enjoy it when I do eventually read it over and fix one or two things.

I've finished three other feature scripts (each 90 odd pages), all comedies, very foul mouthed (maybe too much) with sexual references and such. Nobody has seen them besides me, the reason for this being that I need to fix quite a bit before I'm happy with them for other people to see.

I've already learned so much reading from these boards and there is still so much to learn. I've read a few scripts in the unproduced section and I'm impressed. I've not written any reviews yet because I'm new to this myself but I will do in the future, even if I just review the story and leave the experts to point out format errors and such.

I look forward to reading more great scripts on here!

Welcome Brian.  I'm actually writing a script that takes place in nearby Edinburgh.

The best thing you can do is review other people's scripts here.  People will be more willing to read your scripts if you've read theirs.

I've started reviewing now, shorts during the week and a feature or two at the weekend. My reviews will be very basic as I'm still learning lots about the art of screenwriting so I wouldn't read too much into them.

I look forward to posting more in the coming weeks!

Every comment is worthwhile Brian. Sometimes a writer will miss the obvious or presume everyone knows what they're talking about.

What you may want to do, Brian, is read othjer people's reviews to see what should and shouldn't be included.  Also, write reviews without loking at what other people are saying about a script, to see if you're on the same page.

And Brian, be truthful in your reviews - don't suck up. If you don't like a script, say so - but say why and how you feel it could be better.
