You saw the preview, and I know what you're thinking- the Smith/Neo battle is the real reason to see this... to tell you the truth, that's just the icing on the Mech Battle cake!

While not everyone seemed to like "Reloaded" (I did), "Revolutions" seems to pack more of what the sequel lacked but the original held together: a thought provoking idea.  This time, it seems to be the parallels to bible.  Whether or not you agree is up to discussion, but Neo defiantly has a Christ vibe going for him in this installment.

The story is this: remember everything from the second installement- well, it didn't really work.  Those pesky machines are still headed towards Zion, giant drill and all.  So, what's Neo and Company to do?  Why whip out some of their trademark bullet time moves of course!  But, the question still remains- is it good?  Well, let me tell you, that "Thumbs Up" icon is no mistake on my part.

As stated earlier, while the Neo/Smith battle is truly awesome, it's towards the end.  The real reason has nothing to do with Neo whatsoever- in fact it has everything to do with a Captain and a kid.  The mech battle will truly blow you away- you really get a sense of danger and fear when you see these swarms of jelly fish esque robots swimming their way towards our army of heroes.  In a stange way, it reminds me of "Aliens"... or maybe that's because one out warriors has an uncanny resemblance to Ripley...

The real reason I bring up the mech battle is not only because it is so wickedly awesome, but also because the large crowd I saw this with all clapped and cheered at certain scenes.  Trust me, you may be compelled to do so as well.

But, here's the kicker- the ending.  Though it didn't for me (after all, the mech battle was still stuck in my head), it may just ruin the entire film for you.  Why?  Because it leaves everything open for a possible fourth entry, something I certainly don't want to see.  So, once again the previews haver lied- it's not an ending, just a beginning for what I'm sure will be an endless string of lackluster films delivered by WB and not the Wachowskis.

You maybe right there. I agree with you on almost everything. Except the mech fight stealing the show, it was good, DAMN good but the end fight between neo and agent smith, priceless. I must admit that the ending of the fight left me inbetween as to if i liked it or not, on one hand itdidnt have a supreme ending of good versues evil, on the other hand it had a sacrifice, which shows ultimate good. Another character who reminded me of aliens was the linc's girlfriend's war buddy, the woman with the short hair. She reminded me of the tough tomboy from aliens who blows herself and that guy up with a grenade with all the aliens approaching.

Anyways matrix revolutions was a great movie and should be a great ending to a great series (ALL 3 of the movies!!), but i must agree that it seems like they are setting themselves up for a spawning of matrix spin off movies. Time will tell, who knows they may even be better than the first 3...

Well there was talks of one last matrix video game maybe they wanted to keep some kind of ending for a final game, I mean why make millions of 3 movies, a video game, merchandise and an animatrix with bonus cd when you can make alot more money of a long dragged out story

Just think if the lord of the rings wasn't written by Tolkien they'd probably keep that going, I heard someone mention The Hobbit being made as a film, when will they ever stop? when they finally realise people dont want to pay to see a movie that you have to go back next summer and see the rest off it, after revolutions comes out on dvd they'll bring out this special 3 pack to get more of your money

Well the more money you got the more you want, so if you have a big money making machine then your going to want to make it a bigger money making machine, and have you heard the phrase if it aint broke dont fix it? Its as simple as that, although it can get very annoying especially when they do sequels to films that weren't very good in the first place or have no place for a sequel just at the chance to squeeze out a litlle more moolah. But can you honestly say that in their position you wouldnt try the same thing?!...

i just saw it this afternoon and i must say BEST.MOVIE.EVER, i mean it really sucked you in and really made you think about alot of things. this movie is truly one of a kind.

I was quite surprised (having seen it Friday night) that the theater was not more crowded.  Perhaps everyone went opening night?  But I heard someone say after the film had finished that they thought it sucked.  I can't say I was floored either, rather I only found it mediocre (not to mention continuity was all over the place, but I tend to look for those things).  Think it was geared more toward women with the emphasis on the Trinity/Neo love story versus Agent Smith/Neo story. 

I would give it 2 1/2 stars.

I do think that the whole living in peace idea was a bit stupid, and there was no indication of the computer programmes feeling love or anything like that up until the train station bit. Unless you count the french man's woman wanting to kiss neo in reloaded, but that would be more of a hint if it was intended that way. Maybe if Trinity was a computer programme it could have put a whole spin on it and made the peace thing mean something, but oh well minor gripes to a film that in my opinion was very good. I think i might even see it again today...

Ok I'm gonna jump in here with my own take on REVOLUTIONS.

I agree with Lesley...the continuity is spastic in many places and there are too many arbitrary, simplistic solutions to a very dense, otherwise well crafted story. Too many things were left open ended (I agree that there will be further sequels).  I did like the nod to Oedipus (Neo blind and wandering, but able to see due to his enlightenment) and the battles were amazing, as per usual in any Matrix film.

I was frustrated with many of the "answers" given the viewers:

Such as:

"How can Neo wipe Sentinals with a sweep of his hand?"
Answer: He has a connection to "The Source."
What?  That needs serious extrapolation.

Is Neo dead?  No...he was whisked off to a mechanized Avalon, where he will be preserved until the machines rise again.  This is spilled when someone (I don't recall which character) says "Maybe we'll see him again."

Peace between man and machine?  Well, I didn't like that solution either, but when you think about it, it makes sense.  There's no way mankind is gonna wipe out a civilization that's God-knows how old and God-knows how well equipped in the space of a two hour movie.

And what of the Architect's statement in RELOADED that the "Real" was also a Matrix?  That it existed to give the sleeping human race a choice? Was that not also contridicted in the "Link to the Source" answer the Oracle gave him? 

Why point out the Oracle's changed appearence?  That was rather pointless.  Ignore it and move on.

Seraph is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY too fucking cool to have been used so little.
Morpheus is wildly underused in the final film.

Zee's gunner (Zee is Link's incredibly hot chick) is a total nod to Vasquez (the butch heavy machinegunner from ALIENS).  That was a cool reference and I wondered if I was the only one who "got it."

Why wasn't the Merovingian used more?  He's the coolest villain (next to Smith, of course) in the series.  In addition, his wife Persephone (played by the always stunning Monica Belluchi) was simply window dressing.  And where were the Ghost Twins?  C'mon!

I liked the film, but I want answers, dammit!

I give it...3 1.2 stars.

Really Really dug this flick. I was surprised I liked the moive so much after the travesty that was Reloaded, but I couldnt help but love it from the very beggining. My quibbles with the films were small (Some of the dialouge was choppy.) But I thought it was really cool. I really liked the ending, apposed to most people.

I got a day off on Thursday, do you reckon this is worth me seeing?

Oh absolutely.  If you liked the 1st two (or even if you're just curious), check it out.

this movie was extremely good, i really liked it, no, i think the machines HAVE seen the error of their ways, and they will live in peace.  yes, i think neo is dead.  yeah, seraph ruled.

I hated this movie with a passion.  True, some of the effects and fights were good, but for the most part, the plot was unbearable to watch.  Having the ending come out the way it did, was stupid, in my opinion.  And, the movie ended on a sunrise(set)  whatever!  I liked the first Matrix, hated Reloaded, and Revolutions.

I give The Matrix Revolutions  1 out of 4 stars  (*)

While I can understand some of your problems with both "Matrix" sequels (I.e.: terrible ending), sometimes you have to put your brain on hold when entering a theater.  Now, this doesn't work for all "mindless" films (I.e.: "Resident Evil," "Timeline"), I found it worked pretty well with both "Matrix" sequels- I implore you to go see this one again, but this time, leave your brain at home (I know, I know- major cliche).
