"SITH" SPOILERS

You've been warned...

- "Revenge of the Sith" is, quite simply, fucking awesome. This is the "Star Wars" prequel the haters have been bitching for since "Menace" came out, and if they don't cop to that when they finally see it, they're lying. As dark as "Empire" was, this movie goes a thousand times darker - from the triggering of Order 66 (which has all the Shock Troopers turning on the Jedi Knights they've been fighting beside throughout the Clone Wars and gunning them down), to the jaw-dropping Anakin/Obi Wan fight on Mustafar (where - after cutting his legs and arm off, Ben leaves Skywalker burning alive on the shores of a lava river, with Anakin spitting venomous sentiments at his departing mentor), this flick is so satisfyingly tragic, you'll think you're watching "Othello" or "Hamlet".

I saw a gorgeous digitally projected version of the flick, and lemme tell ya': this is a beautiful looking film. The opening space battle sequence is the best in any of the six "Star Wars" movies. Grievous and Kenobi's lightsaber duel is bad-ass, with Grievous rocking four sabers. The Clone Wars end rather early in the flick (about the halfway point), leaving the rest of the film to concentrate on Anakin's turn to the Dark Side, and the resulting slaughter of the Jedi.

Perfect example of how dark shit gets: remember the Younglings - the kid Jedis in training from "Clones"? As a result of Order 66, when Anakin invades the Jedi Temple with an army of Clone Troopers, he enters the Council room to find a gaggle of said younglings hiding behind the seats. They see Anakin and emerge, asking "What should we do, Master Anakin?" The query's met with a stone-cold Anakin firing up his lightsaber. The next time you see the kids, Yoda's sifting through their corpses on the floor.

Yes, it's just that dark - and rightfully so. This is the birth of Darth Vader we're talking about. The only comic moments in the flick are given to R2D2, and while good, they're all pretty few and far between; the order of the day is dark, dark, dark.

Ian McDiarmid and Ewan McGregor steal the show, but Hayden Christensen silences any naysayers who wrote him off as too whiney in "Clones". This is the flick that feels closest to Episodes 4, 5, and 6, because - for the first time since "Return of the Jedi" - there is a clear villain. And for all the shadow-play Palpatine has been upto in the last two flicks, his treachery is about as subtle as John Williams' score in "Sith." Whether he's slowly drawing Anakin toward the Dark Side during an opera/performance art piece with his promise of the Sith's power of life over death, or he's engaged in a balls-to-the-wall lightsaber duel in the Senate with Yoda, his "Little, green friend" (his words, not mine - which I kinda dug, because, interestingly, I think it's the first time anyone's acknowledged that Yoda is green in any of the "Star Wars" flicks), this is the Emperor's movie.

The last fifteen minutes dovetail nicely into Episode 4 (or just plain "Star Wars" for you non-geeks), and the movie is full of link-up moments as well.

- At flick's end, Threepio and Artoo are given to Captain Antilles (with the caveat that the Protocol's memory be wiped).

- The twins, natch, are split up. Leia heads to Alderann with Bail Organa, and Obi Wan hands Luke over to Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru (indeed, the closing shot is Owen holding Luke while looking out over the setting suns of Tatooine - mimicking the shot of the adult Luke doing the same in "Star Wars", complete with callback cue from Williams).

- After he succumbs to the Dark Side, Anakin tries to convine Padme that he can overthrow Palpatine, and together, he and Padme can rule the galaxy as husband and wife.

- Vader and the Emperor stand beside a younger Grand Moff Tarkin on the bridge of a Star Destroyer, overlooking the earliest construction stage of the Death Star.

- Yoda telling Obi Wan that, as he heads to Tatooine to hand over Luke and go into exile, that he should spend his time learning to commune with those who've crossed over to the next stage of life, as Yoda maintains he's been doing with Qui Gon (and Ben will later do with both Luke and Yoda, in "Empire" and "Jedi").

- And, hands-down, the best link-up to "Star Wars" moment that I enjoyed the most: Bail Organa and Yoda stepping into the hallway of the Rebel Blockade Runner that opened "Star Wars". Unlike all the high-tech CGI wizardry of the rest of the prequel Trilogy, this is a low-tech looking set, right out of circa '77, and for some reason, it really captured my imagination. I mean, this is the same exact hallway in which we got our first look at Vader, oh so many years ago, and I appreciated the hell out of Mr. Lucas including it - because it really felt like a nod to the hardcores.

Look, this is a movie I was genetically predisposed to love. I remember being eight years old, and reading in "Starlog" that Darth Vader became the half-man/half-machine he was following a duel with Ben Kenobi that climaxed with Vader falling into molten lava. Now, twenty six years later, I finally got to see that long-promised battled - and it lived up to any expectation I still held. I was sad to see the flick end, but happy to know it's not the end of the "Star Wars" universe entirely (I've read stuff about a TV show...).

"Sith" doesn't happen; "Sith" rules.

---

Did anyone see that!!?!?!?!?!!? "(i've heard stuff about a TV show...)" is that a clue? cause the rumors are kevin smith directing the TV show. i love kevin smith, he's amazing. and i dont think the spoilers really spoiled anything, everyone knows what will happen, but it just cleared things up for me. I CAN NOT WAIT FOR REVENGE OF THE SITH!!!!!!!!!!!!

The spoilers verify that the script in the MOVIE SCRIPTS section is in fact the real script.  I've read it, and I agree with Kevin Smith that the story is FUCKING AWESOME!

I'm not the biggest star wars geek on the planet, but own them all "thus far" so please tell me this...

I thought Anakin was VADER??? Here they are describing him and VADER as two different people it seems.

Also, who is the real villian in this one? Is it GREVIOUS?

Just a few questions here and there...

Also, I'd like to add that this movie looks to take to bad taste out of my mouth from the last two Star Wars movies. I liked Phantom Menace, I did... but Clone Wars was for shit!

Well, yeah!  Wouldn't you be pissed if you were a boy growing up and everyone called you Annie?

I read a review that said Hayden's performance is stiff, he's not a very good actor but he knows how to make mean looking scowls.

I don't care much for the series, I'm not a hater or a fanboy, I stay neutral.

In different places people are wanting this film to surpass Titanic for number 1 all time at the box office, 600 million plus. I hope so because Titanic is crap, I've seen Titanic before and it was floating in the toilet ready to be flushed.

But I guess you can't like Kevin Smith and hate Star Wars because his films have the occasional reference.

Don't overlook the recent animated miniseries called STAR WARS: CLONE WARS.  It had some really good scenes involving Anakin and even Yoda.  So, to get the most out of the Star Wars story, you should watch episodes one and two, and then the recent CLONE WARS animated miniseries, and then the new movie.  Having read the script for the new movie, I know that the recent CLONE WARS miniseries helps out.

So ... watch in this order:

STAR WARS: The Phantom Menace
STAR WARS: Attack of the Clones
STAR WARS: Clone Wars (TV)
STAR WARS: Revenge of the Sith
STAR WARS: A New Hope
STAR WARS: The Empire Strikes Back
STAR WARS: Return of the Jedi

Then find a DVD of that episode of The Muppet Show which had Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, and the Droids.  Speaking of the Droids, check out the animated series called Droids; that had a lot of good Star Wars battles.  Also look for the animated show Ewoks ... oh, and the Star Wars Chrismas Special!  So much good shit!

I'm happy you guys will have something to talk about for another year, it gives some people a reason to post. (Since they only come back for maybe 2 posts a year) I don't think I can honestly take another year of this fanboy chatter but I guess I'll have to bear with it until the people who only come back for this post go away back to there other message boards.

Agent Smith Review***************

“The Hollywood ‘Mahaabaaratham’ finally came to an End”

First of all I am not from America and thank God, am not a Star Wars Super Freak. This is my first comment to a Star War movie. Even though I don’t like the original Star Wars movies, and hates its new prequels, I wanted to watch the ‘last epic event’ in theaters. This was my first Star War movie (and probably the last one) I ever watched on a theater, because I was not born on the original trilogy times and was un-attracted to the new prequels.

I was thrilled to watch the last chapter, the birth of Dark Vader (even though I don’t consider him as a ‘great villain of all times’) and also wanted to be a part on the historical event, I went to theaters on the opening weekend. But what I got was a totally lamed nuisance.

Star Wars Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith (Spoilers******)

Directed by George Lucas tells the last tale of his acclaimed Saga. This time the anticipation increases as never before because all the previous restarted movies (Episode 1 and 2), where done for this last dark chapter. It is the story of a boy called Anakin became the evil man called Darth Vader and the final transformation comes in this Episode.

Written by George Lucas himself, the story was well placed but the director in him makes it as a dreadful one. First of all the extreme violent use of his company-ILM’s special effects. It was a sucking nuisance for both eyes and ears, but if he wanted to make his own Hindu Mythological ‘Mahaabaaratham’ who wants to stop him.

Secondly the lack of drama, emotions. The story lacks passionate, memorable scenes a last epic must definitely have. It has no intense dialogue delivery as I expected and the available ones resembles to some British theatrical dramas.

Thirdly and mostly, the lack of good action scenes. This closing chapter has no dramatic fighting scenes; all the battles presented were spoiled or reduced due to miss use of SFX team. Shame for the stunt choreographers for not bringing something great, good new sharp ideas, where as in ‘Phantom Menace’ the final fight between Ray Park/Darth Maul and the two Jedi was extreme and well filmed.

And last but not the least, the soul created by John Williams was maimed due to the story telling, even Anakin's final transform to Vader happened before the first half than the last five minutes, it could have been a great experience. But Lucas again accomplished his twisted vision by reducing the birth of Dark Vader in nearly the closing of movie, thereby reducing thematic diversion of the story, huh a major mistake.

Even so, we can hear acclaimed James Earl Jones’s breathing sound in the final moments as the new born Darth Vader. Also Hayden Christensen rocked in the last moments as the new David Prowse/Darth Vader! even though he messed most of his part as Anakin Skywalker. The most sucking performance was from Samuel L. Jackson, what he thought of himself, he sucks the most in the whole Star War Franchise after Harrison Ford. I mean who cast him as a Jedi, he looks like a black pimp in that costume, I can’t imagine a black person as a Jedi even though ‘am not a racist.

Anything good in this movie was from Ewan McGregor, he finally gave his best performance for the trilogy. He reminded me Mark Hamill’s portrayal of helpless Luke Skywalker. Also Ian McDiarmid did a great job as Emperor Palpatine as well as Darth Sidious even though his transformation to the Dark side didn’t contemplate much as I envisioned.

All in all it’s a good movie all hankered for but ends up like a sucking nuisance, harmful to both eyes and ears, better watch it in a pirated CD. “I would give this movie 1 out of 10”!

Star Wars Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith = Lucas Final Twisted Vision for the BABIES.
