DON'T SEE THIS MOVIE WHEN IT HITS THEATERS IN LATE AUGUST!!!
This movie was filmed in Saskatoon Saskatchewan, the city where I live. If you want to see places that are familiar to me -- including a hotel which is very close to my house -- see the movie. But otherwise only see this movie if you like movies of the week which go for cheap, manipulative dramatics, and have scripts that really, really suck.
In the small town of Spencer Saskatchewan, John (Adam Beach) fell in love with Angela (Mia Kirshner) when they were fourteen. But Angela wasn't ready for love, so she wanted to be "just friends." For twelve years, Angela confided in John about all of her boyfriends. John endured this heroically because his happiness came from her happiness. And John always arrived to fight for Angela, to protect her. But then, the most unrealistic things started to happen: She had a successful career in Hollywood, AND she chose him in the end. Oh, and John was killed by a rival -- off screen -- right after Angela got on the truck for Hollywood, so he was a ghost for half of the movie even though that's not revealed until the end.
