I swear I read something about this here, but I couldn't find a thread, so it must be a different forum? Anyway...

My sister offered to take me to the movies, her treat, and of course I had to accept. The only movie I was interested in seeing that I hadn't seen was the Island and I have to tell you -- it was good.

I saw the "Making - of" on HBO and Michael Bay, the director, said his goal was to make a popcorn flick so I made no more expectations than that - a popcorn flick. But it wasn't anything like Van Helsing or even Fantastic Four, which I define as summer popcorn movies, it had great music and cinematography and a great story. I had read a book last year that had the same premis as the Island, "very wealthy people pay to create clones of themselves for spare-parts." But unlike the book, the Island had more science-fiction than I thought. Sure things get to destroyed and there are very well defined good and bad guys, with one in the middle. Anyway, if your looking for  an entertaining movie, check out the Island. It doesn't provoke much thought to understand and watching Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson run for their lives is more entertaining than I thought.
