1st off I like and don't like this movie. It's a tough one cause it had so much going for it and yet so much going against it.

It's about 3 guys out for a night of fun on an old mountain side bar. Two of the guys are brothers, the other a friend of them both who has a large scar across his face and the story of that plays into the plot of the movie a great deal.

They get into a huge bar fight with these mountain pass grease necks and thus have to high tail it out of the bar... they have a good laugh about it and forget about it as they transcend the mountain on their way back home to Minnesota.

Soon they are followed by a mysterious black Cadillac and the movie never seems to go back into 1st gear from here. They pick up a police officer along the way who is broken down on the mountain. The movie kinda takes a turn for the worst here as it becomes very predictable to most anyone who's seen more than a few thrillers/horrors/slasher films before... me... I'm an old vet of these kinda flicks and quickly saw where it was going.

In the end... we learn a lot about the three guys and a lot about the people giving chase to them and the officer.
--------

I'd give this movie a go for most anyone who likes horror/thriller movies. It's a very decent movie and it exceeds my expectations a lot of the time. It just becomes too predictable and too run of the mill for me to really hold it in high high regards.

I find it worlds beyond anything Wes Craven has ever done and it beats the hell out of any new horror movie you might want to throw at it.

The strongest points are a very well acted main character in Charlie. The dialogue of the three main characters is brilliant and the directing, for a low low budget movie, is also brilliant...

So really the only thing keeping me from actually putting this one in my collection is it's predictability factor... which one might be able to get over. Me, I can't.

It is also touted as being a true story... if you can believe that.

3.5 out of 5 stars: Best little thriller I've seen since last week when I bought DARIO ARGENTO's THE CARD PLAYER.

This is a great little movie, and it probably deserved more recognition when it came out then it did.
This has been played on cable for seemingly ages now and I usually end up watching it when its on about 3 in the morning and nothing else is on.

The dialouge is definitly the film's strong point, and thats a good thing as there is a lot of it!

Well worth checking out.

Well, watched it tonight. It's a good little flick...I'm always happy when I see good little indie flicks.

Definitely agree with both of you. Fantastic dialogue makes fantastic characters. The lead reminds me of Christian Bale.

Also, great directing...it does put some recent movies to shame.

Good pick out Balt.
