This is the biggest propaganda movie I've seen since... Hell, I can't remember when. We'll just call it the grandad of all propaganda flicks. How bout it?

An all star cast lends their hands into this one. Even rapper Ludicrous is in here and surprising enough, he doesn't suck. Who'd have thunk that one?

However, the movie is so bad at times and so cliched that it almost becomes unbearable to watch. Where as Anderson's MAGNOLIA flows on screen to cinematic beauty, this movie just flows in and out of B.S. and culture driven shock monkeys.

This movie broke no new ground. It wanted to. It tried to but failed at every turn to do something powerful. Even their curve balls where picked up on from about 30 minutes out each time.

Brendon Frasier plays a decent role, all be it very small, as a D.A. of L.A. along with his wife Sandra Bullock, who also has very little on screen time... :THANK GOD:

Then we have MATT DILLON, who plays a semi racist white cop "how typical is this?" He does, later on, see the error in his steps and makes a pivotal save and recaps the trust of a black lady, who earlier he accosted. It's pretty ho hum and run of the mill. You can almost see the B.S. stacking up in this one.

Then we got his ex-partner Ryan Phillipe... who's just Blah Blah Blah in everything he does. Here is no different. He sucks here too. Only he's the "GOOD" white cop... only for awhile, though, as he slowly change thruout the course of the 36 hours this movie takes place, yeah, it's that lame.

Then we got a black guy and his wife, don't know either of the two's names... but they were easily the best actors in the whole movie -- MATT DILLION aside, he's brilliant. These are the two the movie centers around most, I believe... well them and ludacris.

Then we got ludacriss and his little friend, gang banger, who contradicts himself within the 1st 5 minutes of the movie... it's laughable this one. He's taking up for all the whites at first and then they steal a car and ludacriss starts making a fuss about rap music, saying it sucks and such "big surprise there, we haven't seen that done before" and thus he turns it to country... where the his partner, just mere minutes before was taking up for the whites, suddenly turns on a dime and starts making up funny little rap songs about 'em and how red neckisch they are. It's absurd to say the least... very.

We got some other characters in there, but really... it's not even worth mentioning them as the movie's best parts were with the characters above. Yes they even have some Iraqi natives in here to even further this pile of crap movie into "social commentary or social jargon for shit"

I didn't like the movie.. I want my 2 hours back and feel that movies like this shouldn't be made for several reasons...

1 - they are always tilted in one races favor and never, ever, show an equal take on things.

2- They always tend to miss out on character development, cause they have too many characters to deal with.

3- They shove too much down our throat's in way of political and racial issue.

4- They always leave the story with too much left unsaid.

I said earlier MAGNOLIA pulled off this style of film flawlessly and I stick by that.

CRASH... is a major let down.

2 out of 5 stars: It's watchable, but just barely. Too many flawed plots and not enough character development. I also thought many of the scenes were just too basic and cliched.
 

I disagree with you on this Balt, I thought the film carried a unique message telling us that all races are racist at certain times.

His name is spelt Ludacris, you spelt it wrong twice. And furthermore he's billed as Chris Bridges which I'm guessing is his real name.

The dialogue is what sucked in the actors, I think.

I enjoyed the film for what it was, you missed the guy who gave his magic cape to his daughter. I thought that storyline however short was the strongest one, touching if you will.

I think the stereotypes and all were generally supposed to be that way because they wanted it to be this way. I've yet to listen to the commentary and watch the features on the DVD but I'm guessing the director and writer will shed some light on the subject matter.

A few of the storylines were unfinished and a little poorly constructed (Possible due to editing, bad editing by some Hollywood big shot) or maybe they just wanted to have the film flow along fast and leave you with an awful taste.

Overall I enjoyed the film, sure it could have been a little better but all films could be better. It's above average.
