Not as funny as some would say or as gory, either, however it still shines on all fronts.

The movie starts out typical... Typical cast, typical setting, typical dialogue, typical on all fronts... that is until they get to the gas station where we are introduced to the country band, who plays thru out the entire movie... these guys ROCK! and these guys are FUNNY!

The movie quickly takes off from here and gives us exactly what HOLLYWOOD is too afraid to give us... good, raw, material! This movie is a horror movies dream come true on so many levels...

1- cause it's in the midst of pure shit!
2- cause it's better than any horror movie out or being released.
3- it's got a fantastic sense of gore and humor.

This is a winning movie on all front. It's not deep. It's not complex. It's just balls to the wall, ass kicking, fun!

The songs the country guys come up with are brilliant and they even lend to the movie instead of taking away from it... even though we cut from the movie to watch them sing and play for brief moments on end.

Anyways... Once the cast get to the B&B for the night they are greeted with some strange folks, who quickly die off. They are then forced to stay in town while the sheriff conducts an investigation. Well, someone opens a box that the owner of the B&B was protecting... inside a demonic spirit that will possess the opener and thus, anyone he kills... so by the 40 min mark the movie is crawling with DEMON/GHOUL/ZOMBIE things... not really just one or the other, but a mix here... which is good... cause the rules can be broken this way and still make sense.

Anyways... one by one people are getting killed until the swarm boxes them in at the B&B, after a huge bar fight, slighter scene... It's great! Must see to believe some of this stuff.

In the end... chainsaws, make-shift shot guns, sticks, pipes, symbols, nails, knives, you name it are all used as killing devices for the blood bath that ensues.

Yes... a movie has been this splatter happy since PETER JACKSON's BRAIN DEAD/DEAD ALIVE... it's pretty brilliant to see this stuff again. Real Latex and blood work and not a hint of CG... it's a blessing, really.  The blood, however, is very dark and thick... as usual, so don't go expecting H.G. LEWIS art work here in the blood department... it's very much K & B stuff A.K.A. major HOLLOYWOOD production blood for the masses... Although this is very much an independent film... and that, in this case, is a good thing.

You'll love the characters... although the acting is a bit stiff and stale sometimes. The sheriff is a riot and he's easily or was easily my favorite in the whole thing.

Please give this one a go, you won't regret your 90 minutes.

4.5 out of 5 -- A fun flick to watch with your girlfriend/boyfriend and one great flick to add to your horror collection... << about time someone could say that about a new horror movie. With all the SAW's and remakes I was begining to wonder when this would happen again.

Just watched this movie tonight - one of the best movies of the year. Brilliant independant filmmaking.

Hat's off to everyone invovled. Funny, EXTREMELY gory and (a little) original.

4/5

I watched a preview for this film on Alien Apocalypse and Screaming Brain and it looks really weird and interesting. I'd pick it up but I can't find it, I've looked.

I've checked everywhere in town that sells DVD's... Nothing! I couldn't find a lot of films I wanted so I've ordered them online but I'm not going to order off the internet for at least a month.

Hopefully one of the big 3 will get it eventually.

I finally just rented this and it is exactly as Balt said, I found it to be very enjoyable.

They do the one thing I hate in films is when they acknowledge that it's a film but this time instead of saying the norm they say something like "This is like a bad horror movie" which takes away from if somebody wanted to say it's bad because they made it that way on purpose.

Good fun film with human zombie creatures that talk dance sing and kill with an enthusiasm not seen since well who knows when.

I didn’t like the killing off of characters I enjoyed but I guess at the end of the day they made it better and better by doing it this way.

I hope I can eventually get it on DVD because it is a collector’s item that goes away from crap… Hollywood I mean.

I'm glad you finally got to see it. I'm also glad it wasn't a disappointment either. This movie was something needed in horror, something for real fans of horror anyways.

I do believe Undead is the better movie out of these two, but D&B is brilliant too. I think both are very very very welcome in the realm of shit horror.

Now, Wes... you need to check out "House By The Cemetery" "House Of clocks" "New York Ripper"  Those 3 films will leave you with something. Trust me.

I believe House By The Cemetery to still be the most ghastly slasher flick of all time. It's simply a brilliant movie with a deep plot and the hands down scariest movie monster of all time. Dr. Freudstein is just scary! To this day he is still scary...

I love this movie cause it doesn't give you too much of him. You see his rotted hand or his replenished hand and maybe his arm thru most of the movie... then, the end you see just what he was up to for over a 100 years in his basment. It's the pinicle in all horror.

People talk about the way Michael Myers walked... NO! The Mannerisims of DR. Freudstein make Myers look like a water head. I've never been more terriffied by a movie, than I am of House By The Cemetery.. it just grabs me.

Check this one out.
