Yup... another H.G. Lewis, classic!

I won't get into the spill of why he's so brilliant or what he did before anyone else... I did that in my last review... Just know that these idea's... These incredible, deep, clever idea's were created long before Carpenter, Hooper, Kubrik, King, Craven, Romero, even knew what they were doing.

Color Me Blood Red:

The movie is sharp as a thumb tac. It is. It's one of my favorite movies that he did, but a lot of people's least favorite cause it wasn't "as" outlandish as his many many many other flicks. It's still out there, though, believe me.

This movie is about an abstract painter. a painter who's on the verge of something big if he could just get that right shade of red... that certain hue of crimson... for his next masterpiece... Does he find it? Would it be an H.G. Lewis film is he didn't? LOL

One day, this sick, twisted, creaton discovers his girlfriend has cut her finger on a nail... he knows this cause the blood dripped all over one of his canvas's.

She arrives home and he becomes obessessed. To the point of making her open the wound back up so he can paint with her finger. "Sound bizzare?" it get's worse.

Once she won't do it no more... He starts to cut his fingers and use them. Once he runs out of fingers to cut and squeeze he kills his girfriend and uses her head as a paint brush.

He sells the painting and it's a huge smash. His best work yet. Everyone loves it... but what they want more than that... they want another one and quick.

So our "Vango" resorts to killing beach bunnies and other such people who might be near his beach front estate for the taking.

A disturbing motor boat scene to the head of a woman later and he's got enough blood for another master piece.

The movie really is cutting edge stuff and very deep in it that it was so so so far before anything else out there. He is just simply amazing with his idea's. You kinda wonder if he isn't a little twisted himself after seeing everyone of his movies.

In the end the movie racks up the body count. The blood is spilt and the paintings are sold... but at what cost?

A great idea, only flawed by its low budget... I prefer it that way, though. I think H.G. Lewis did too.

4.5 out of 5 -- A good movie with a strong plot. It's got ambition and I love it for that. It's got gore, but the story and acting come 1st in this one.

Another must see for any who haven't...
