SPOILERS

Just got done seeing this movie, and boy, would most people say this movie sucked. This is your average horror film with a dab of comedy and a little suspense...I guess. Written and directed by James Gunn (the writer of Dawn of the Dead '04) this movie was decent for me.

Imagine this: A meteor crashes in a small town surrounded by swamps and large hills, releasing some sort of alien egg that Grant Grant, one of the main character/creatures, discovers. Once he is injected with some sort of alien parasite, he begins mutating into an ugly, horrid creature that even I cringed at. Soon he begins infecting people, making them look like Violet Beauregarde from Willy Wonka, keepign them hosts for thousands of tiny worms that 'slither' into your mouth and control your brain.

Now, what made me like this movie was not only the gore, comedy, and creepiness, but for the fact that when the worms got into the bodies of the town citizens, it made them zombie-like, walking like they do have rigor mortis (however you spell it). These "zombies" James Gunn added in are almost as creepy as the sprinters in Dawn '04 because they infect you by throwing up green slime that if it lands on you, you seem to grow an egg inside your body that holds these worms. Luckily I don't live in this town.

Most people may think that this movie may not be scary, well let me tell you, they're wrong. I'm normally not terrified of horror movies, but somes parts in this movie actually made me jump out of my seat. It's one of those pop-out movies. And, yes, as the reviewers in the newspaper said, this movie did gross me out, and I don't even cringe one bit in these gross, slimy, filthy movies.

There are very many different people out there that think differently, or the same way, and, though for those who have seen the movie already, I think this was a great film, and I recommend it for those who love gore, slimey things, and don't have a weak stomach.

Is it really that important to put a reason up?

Haha since when did old women go see Ice Age 2? Hehe just kidding. Man I wish I was there to see that. The only person I was sitting next to was my mom and there were only like 5 other people in the theater. Oh well.

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this one. I knew from the trailer it had something todo with weird sluggie things attacking people, and one can't help but wonder how far that plot will go. I was pleasantly surprised to find a horror movie that had a plot, some character, a pretty freaky monster, and some suspenseful moments.

Here's the short version. Woman in a marriage that is ok. She is committed to her husband and willing to do whatever it take to stay together. He gets upset at her one evening and contemplates cheating on her, ending up in the woods with a woman he ultimately does nothing with. There he finds this pod where an alien pricks him and gets into his head. The ride begins.

He eventually turns into this weird creature that looks like Jabba the Hutt with huge tentacles, a deformed face, and teeth. Well, he "impregnates" the girl he was going to cheat with, and she eventually explodes letting out these little slug things that make people into single minded zombies.

While that might sound like a bad movie, it's actually not. The things actually have a history that is adequately explained in the film. The characters are rounded out well enough for the genre (more so than most). It is paced very well, and moves along at a quick enough pace that it never really lets up.

There were some parts I was worried for, but no little miracles happened along the way. There was a blatant grenade setup early on, but it's forgivable.

In the end, it was good messy fun, and a monster movie that delivers some suspense and a satisfying ending.
