It is hard to say if this film is good or if it's just so crazy that you can only give it a blah... We will see.
Plot Outline: A journalist uncovers an underground group who can bring back the dead and slowly becomes drawn into their world.
It starts really well and when they show the video of the girl killing herself, I was like "Damn, is this a movie" because the shit looked so real and they didn't cut away when she blew her head off.
The guy resurrects her and well that brought me back to reality and I realized I was in for an average ride.
Best thing about the film is the acting and the boobs covered in blood (Like Saw 2 but you actually see them and they are bloody) in a low budget straight to crap release the acting is usually throwaway but I really enjoyed the acting/dialogue.
Sadly the plot and execution of said plot is the downfall of this little film, first it cuts to a new story before the last one sets in and you find out it was all a illusion but with no point half the time which is annoying.
Special features were OK and the only question I have about this franchise is why does Pinhead only show up for 5 minutes at the end when it's his.
I haven't seen this one, but I've seen like the last few and I actually like them more than the original. they seem to come out with 2 a year now it seems.
I think Pinhead is an underrated villain with the big two being Michael Myers and Jason with Freddy bringing up the rear. Frankly, Pinhead is more memorable and he gets less and less screen time than those guys.
Only problem is that they get a little boring and who wants to watch a film again if they're bored?
If they let Pinhead act and do a little more in HIS franchise I'd say run out and get the films but as is I hope one day they give him a bigger role and not just a pop in to say hi and die 2 minutes later.
The mythology is good, the dialogue in the two I've seen was solid for a low budget horror film.
Yeah I've noticed that, the last few has like nothing to do with pinhead till the end, ususally it's about a corupt person who in the end meets his or her doom with pinhead. the one I really liked was hellraiser inferno because that was actually a good story, but pinhead doesn't show up till the last 10 minuets, I mean on it's own, without pinhead it could have worked.
The first Hellraiser is the only true Hellraiser in my book. Never been a fan of sequels to anything at all really. Hellraiser II and Bloodline were mildly amusing but still mediocre films. The first however is brilliant but underrated. It too often gets pidgeonholed along with teen slashers like NOES and Friday the 13th when it doesn't fit into that catagory at all. Hellraiser is much darker, sophisticated, and definitely made for adults. None of the sequels have even come close to it.
