Well I just got back from this and I would have to say that this is my favorite movie so far this summer.  This is michael Mann at his best.

First off the movie looks great, there are some shots in this movie that are just so amazing to look at.

The action for the most part is quick and brutal, I have never seen so many people shot in the head in one movie.  The only long action scene is at the end, and eventhough it is not as big as the shoot out in Heat, it is just as effective.

What surprised me was that Jamie Fox does not have that big of a part in this movie, after the first hour it is mostly about Colin Farrell and Li Gong.  Their relationship is probably one of the best in the movies in the past year, much better than ones in dopey romantic comedies (eventhough their relationship is based on a lie).  You could sense a real attraction between these two, and their sex scenes, which are not explicit, but seem very real, the flesh on flesh, sweat mixing with sweat, you could feel the heat, it worked very well.  These two actually cared about each other, and maybe even be in love.

What Michael Mann does best is characters, he is able to find something in everyone, even the bad guys.

And of course when it comes to action Mann is the man, he shots it so well. there is one part where a someone is shot and their blood squirts on the camera, and he doesn't cut away, you watch the rest of that scene with blood smeared on the camera.

This was a great shoot 'em up adult action film, slick and intense. I think I was by far the youngest person there, even though this film is only 14A here, most people were between the ages of 40-60.

All in all I think this is a great way to spend 2 1/2 hrs

Finally saw Miami Vice last night. Man, was that an experience. The cinema was full of talkers and at one stage we had a gang of rowdy teenagers run through the joint, (after their film had finished in one of the other cinemas). Ah well, that's what I get for going on tight a$$ Tuesday.

I knew I was in for a pretty straight forward action flick and unfortunately that's all I got. There were no surprises, character development or insights. The only quotable line was; 'Probability is like gravity. You can't negotiate with gravity'.

On a positive note, the ambient soundtrack was great, as was the cinematography. In fact if anyone other than Michael Mann had directed this, it would've played out like a B-grade straight to video action flick.

It was okay, but nowhere near as good as Collateral or Heat. Definitely a wait until it’s on video job. 6/10

I loved Miami Vice. I saw it a while back and enjoyied it. I thought it wasn't going to be good becuase it's a re-make. But the way they filmed it and the dialogue was amazing. They had camera action like made it look like a T.V show and such. I found the bad guy leader the Cuban guy was trying to pull of Tony Montana (Scarface). But, the whole movie was great and and I can see a second one.

Didn't like it. It could have been called anything. Why miami vice as it was nothing like the tv show. This really needed to be a send up like Starsky and hutch to be fun. Wasn't as good a Mann trillers such as heat or Collateral. Fox and Farrell didn't play well of each other and there was no plot suprises or plot for that matter. Just dull. But for those you liked it, talks of a sequel...

I saw this movie ages ago, and i don't know if it was just me but i didn't get the plot til a while into it. It just wasnt clear enough until they Farell and Fox went to see the big dealer. Overall though, i did get the plot eventually lmao and liked the film. It has the feel of a Collateral or Heat and this is Mann's trademark. The cinematography and so on. Was a great film with constant action, and also sex lol. Every 10 mins.
