I've given up on reviewing since I'm incapable of writing reviews, but I thought this movie deserved a thread. It was a movie very well done on all fronts.

Please tell me you're not talking about that complete and utter crap film with Dustin Hoffman and the guy who SNIFFS his way through the entire movie? - "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer"???
If you are... I have to disagree with you 100%!!! I went to a special preview for it in January, free entry and lemme tell you... it was the WORST, most absurd, laughable and ridiculous film I have ever seen at the cinema. The only time I'd recommend it to anyone would be to punish them!!!!
Dustin Hoffman, unfortunately, was awful in the movie first off. His acting was appalling and I hate to even have to say that about him, I never thought I would. The lead actor guy - Ben Whishaw, who played Jean-Baptiste Grenouille was OK, but that's as far as I'd go regarding his acting abilities.
I did like the concept of the movie. I did like the sets and I did like the overall way it was directed. Even the opening scene hooked me in and grossed me out, but then it all went downhill as soon as Hoffman's character arrived. It was pretty obvious by the end of the movie... the mass group orgy bit... that the director had lost the plot and I almost found myself walking out with a lot of other people at that point. However, as I feel it's disrespectful to do so and because I was with friends, I suffered through it....
Crap ending, weak acting performances, awful way to ruin a perfectly interesting and original story. I'm not a huge fan of remakes, but I truly think this movie would benefit from one, as it's so unique and unlike any other horror/thriller I've seen before. I think a lot of people haven't even heard of this because it bombed so badly.
I just can't see how anyone enjoyed this. If you want a good laugh, rent it, this is perfect!
I'm talking about the very same Perfume. I don't share your critisism about Dustin Hoffman, I thought he acted just fine. Im not saying his performance rivalled with Rainman, but I didn't see anything bad about it.
I liked the ending. C'mon who'd expect an orgy, not me, and it was done tastefully. Though I do agree that it was a bit weak when everyone just swarmed towrds him and he dissappeared.
8 out of 10 fo sho.

Sorry, but I didn't think that the fact the orgy was unexpected/ a surprise was good or tasteful in any way whatsoever! You're perfectly entitled to your opinion though, but a thriller/horror which is supposed to grip you, but instead makes you laugh most of the time, is a flop in my books.
I'm glad you saw it though, I haven't met anyone else who watched it yet!!!
