I saw a screening of The Last Legion (which opens this August) and, being a fantasy nut, I was hoping for a good movie. I had only seen a few bits of unimpressive footage on YouTube.
The narration at the beginning kind of sucks, but the overall quality of the film is confusing to me. Once the film settles down and gets going, it seems like this could either be the next Gladiator or either the next Aurthur. The story is certainly more far-fetched than either of the two, and the visual effects in this start to get weak as the film moves forward. It seems to me like the filmmakers used up the entire budget on the early parts of the film, and then sort of slapped together the entire second and third acts.
The overall tone of this film changes as well. It starts off fairly serious but then gets a little more joking and careless.
The villain for this film is a complete joke and isn't developed at all or anything. He isn't really scary at all, and is easily defeated.
This film feels like they made it in the 80s, did the effects in the early 90s, and then released it in 2007. So, if you ARE a fan of the cliche 80s films and sci-fi channel films, you'll enjoy this for what it is.
But because this is getting a theatrical release, I'm going to give it a low rating. If it were a TV movie, it'd probably get a little higher.
"Once you accept The Last Legion for what it is, namely a Saturday adventure matinee show aimed at impressionable 10-year-old boys, then you'll have a passable time at the cinema . . . Sort of."
I didn't steal that review, if that's what your saying. I hadn't even read it.
But now I know how the bootlegger got Last Legion on YouTube! Don't know if it's still up there, though.

Chris,
That is a very, very strong accusation you've just made. From what you've just written, it appears that you are accusing me of pirating a movie and uploading it to youtube.
Are you stupid or just not know how to read? I merely posted a comment on the movie and you respond back with accusing me of uploading copyrighted material to youtube.
