I had the pleasure to see a fantastic Korean thriller called The Chaser today. It's essentially about a former dirty cop turned pimp who, in the process of trying to find the man he thinks has been selling his girls out from under him, discovers that the man behind the disappearances is in fact a serial killer.

I don't want to say too much more, as it would spoil the film. It's dark, tense, gritty and takes several turns that I didn't see coming - the first of which was the killer being revealed very early. Rather than being a standard whodunit, the rest of the film is a taut race against time.

Incredibly, the film is actually based on the true story of a Korean serial killer & the ineptitude of the local police.

The acting, writing and direction are all superb. If you're a fan of asian cinema or just thrillers in general, I can't recommend this film highly enough.
