Directed by Jim Sheridan and based on Susanne Bier's 2004 Danish film Brødre, this is a great film to see.  Gripping storyline, believable, not one word of wasted dialogue.  Best Tobey Maguire, Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaall performances I've ever seen.  Sam Shepard was great, too.  Even the kids were good actors.  The soundtrack was beautiful.  A definite tearjerker  That's about it.

Christ. I'll answer ya rather than just leaving you hanging as that's not pleasant for anyone but weirdos. I bought the DVD the other day then wasted hours I'll never get back watching Ava fecking Tarmacam again. In the futile hope I might why the fecking shouting was fussing everyone. I failed. Still a big bag of blue shite.

I shoulda watched this thing as Ms Portman is destined to have my babies. Once I find her. Bloody Kate Bloody Bush turned me down flat, the cheeky cow. And she changed her locks and built a big bloody wall round her house. Takes at least half an hour to climb over it. Then there's the dogs. And then there's the moat.

The least said about my encounters with Ms Winslet, the better. Cheeky tart. That's all I'm saying. As that restraining order thingy can prove painful. And expensive.

Er. Propbably better leave it at that. Or maybe not. Watching it later SR. Hope you're not sorry you asked. I have to go and say my prayers now. I'm hoping God will send me Ms Portman's phone number tonight. Tomorrow could be glorious!

Love and pieces,

R

I would've gone to see this only for it boasted one of those "we'll tell you everything about the film in a condensed 2 minute 36 seconds" trailers which came on before two or three other films I was watching in the cinema around the time of its release. After that I wasn't so enthused.

I'll catch it on downlo-- I mean, fully licensed, DVD rental at 4 quid a night when it becomes available.

Quoted from screenrider
not one word of wasted dialogue.

Because it was mostly copied from the original film.

The only real problem with this film is when the daughter says the stuff about the brother and wife sleeping together at the dinner table. It seemed forced and unreal since they don't set-up that she overheard or saw anything happening.

Otherwise I really enjoyed this film as well.

I first heard about it mid last year and wanted to see it ever since.
