In order to blot out of my mind another movie (Lightning Thief, Blecht!) I though I'd try something just absolutely stupid. Found it. Zombie Sean and the gore crew here have brought to my attention the enthusiasm! their peculiar niche following has for this material.
No. I did not go looking for the screenplay for this. Pfft! It was a writer/director gig anyway, so... what would be the point of that? However, it is corroborating proof that if you wanna see your low budget schlock on screen you gotta learn to direct it yourself, which means - considering budget, actors, audience, distribution blah blah blah, etm... The business end of a film. A wee more than just cutting off orphans from your screenplay. I think Breanne is experiencing this phenomenon lately. I tip my figurative hat to her on her maiden voyage. GL, Breanne!
ZS is an example of what you can do for in-the-ballpark-of a million bucks http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0960890/trivia I can't help but think of AJRscreenworks in regards to this aspect. He seems to have a monster grasp in this area.
I was surprised Robert Englund was involved with this low budget fiasco. Seems the man will lend his name to anything for a genre paycheck. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000387/ And I guess Sony will distribute d@mn near anything.
Wow. Who woulda thought there were so many people involved with producing a film as this? Certainly no El Mariachi.
Jay Lee: writer/director/cinematographer http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0999415/ This is very surprising to me there was only Mr Lee credited with cinematography as there were two distinct cinematic styles predominantly employed in ZS. One looked like rookie sh!t. The other is the increasingly popular, and likely fad-ish, high shutter speed oft employed throughout Saving Ryan's Privates and the 28 Days and Weeks Later movies. Those sequences looked fairly decent, although somehow Lee managed to make strippers look less than ideal. And it wasn't the outstanding zombie makeup ruining it, either.
