I'm surprised no ones reviewed this one. I ignored the hype around this one, because I really didn't know what to expect, I wasn't completely sold on the idea of a movie revolving around the creation of Facebook and watching some college guy become a billionaire (jealousy, maybe?). However, I loved this movie! It's got a two hour running time and usually with films I notice that, but this felt like twenty minutes, I never wanted it to end. They put a lot of effort into this film and it shows, the scripts amazing and the music really ties this together. It's a really compelling story and I don't think it could have ever had the effect it does unless Jesse Eisenberg played the lead. He does such an amazing job, I don't think I could talk that fast if I tried, but he nails the character. Justin Timberlake who I've always avoided categorizing as an actor, has really changed my mind, he does a really good job as well as the entire cast. Overall, I'm not sure what else to say about this one, I think it's great filmmaking and it's definitely one to catch as soon as you can. So far, this one earns my favourite movie of the year.

Just saw this tonight. Gonna say i was a bit dissapointed. Probably due to the hype it got. It's basically the evolution of facebook, as well as the two pending lawsuits against him after it got huge, happening simultaneously. What I will say is that it is definitely above average. Nice direction. Great eerie score by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails). I guess my gripe is that it is a very talky script. It was great dialogue, it just started to wear on me towards the end. Eventhough it was witty, I only chuckled a couple of times.

My biggest problem is that I didn't like any of the characters. They were all very self indulgent. They acted it well, I'll give JT his props, he continues to impress. I just couldn't figure out who to cheer for or what.  Anywho, that's my two cents.

Anyway, I was not only surprised but thoroughly enamored by the film. Just about everything about it was superb. The dialogue was dynamite and I could actually see where nearly every character was coming from, including Zuckerberg himself who is a complete and utter emotional cripple, both in the film and in real life. The acting, casting (important to note), direction (Fincher... duh), score (musicians always make better composers), the very noticeable absence of cheap Hollywood shenanigans... all top notch.

The only scene I didn't like was the "why does your relationship status say 'single'" scene. That was purely for the audience. Lame.

I think most important to note is the two things that more or less make up the foundation of any good film: a good story and a good character. I had a knee jerk reaction to think a Facebook movie was a cash grab and would undoubtably be lame. The addition of Fincher helped but didn't change my mind. In the end, the cash grab part is, no matter how you slice it, still more or less true. However the overwhelming positive response to the film made me look into the actual story and I have to say, it's one worth being told. This wasn't just about some genius. Not just any success story. Zuckerberg was a kid who was hurt and pissed off after being dumped and I think, in the film at least, after all the billions of dollars and revolutionizing the nature of social interaction, he stayed the same kid throughout. Think that puts a completely different spin on the whole rags to riches parable.

So basically the opposite of the other James's review. Honestly, I think some of you guys get so caught up with trying to figure out who you should be "rooting for" that you close yourselves off to other equally enticing forms of storytelling. The Social Network is worth checking out.

I am a huge fan of Fincher, but after seeing the trailer, I wasn't entirely sold on this film. It really didn't seem like something that utilized Fincher's strengths and personally seemed like a boring idea, at least to me.

Upon seeing the film, though, I was really taken aback by how much I got wrapped in all elements concerning the film.

All performances and the script were top notch including JT. As much as I usually don't like JT, I was impressed by his portrayal of Sean Parker. Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield really provided great performances as well.

The soundtrack by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross was well done and spot on for the film told.

Fincher's directing was superb, in my opinion. With the film being shot entirely on digital, it looked amazing. Along with that, this being Fincher's first PG-13 film, really did not feel PG-13 at least to me. It still had the feel of an R-rated film.

Overall, one of the best films of 2010 in my opinion.

This film worked on so many levels, for me. Amongst a string of great performances, it's hard to single an actor out for nomination hopes but it's my hope Andrew Garfield receives at least a nod for the humanity he brought to the role. This guy really transforms himself and his Eduardo was a simply irresistible performance.

He did it in 'Alpha Dog' and he did it again here... Justin Timberlake was very impressive. Armie Hammer (particularly for his diametrically opposed performance of the twins) deserves mention as well. Cameron and Tyler came alive as two very distinct characters and gave an extra dimension to that plotline. Jesse Eisenberg was the central figure who carried you along and with aplomb.

Fincher's direction - as always - was tight, dark and exceptionally handled. Great soundtrack, too.

At first, I thought it was gonna be "Facebook - The Movie", a lame, documentary-like, whatsoever-stuff film. I was especially sceptical since I don't use Facebook, and I don't ever intend to sign up.
Now, i'm still glad I spent the money on it, cause it was definitely worth watching.

To start with, acting and directing couldn't have been better. Jesse Eisenberg as Marc Zuckerberg was unbelievably dead-on, and so convincing I almost thought it'd be the original himself. His fast-paced talking, and his seemingly non-existing emotions for anything were simply amazing! In my personal ranking, JE definitely made it to the A-rated guys.
Same goes for Justin Timberlake and the "twins". I even liked the annoying chinese girl from Zack and Cody (Brenda Song) in this movie.
Finchers direction of the thing was tight, dark and fast, just the way this story (or parts of the story) happened in real life supposedly.

Soundtrack was awesome too, I especially liked the beatles-song in the end!

One of the best in 2010! Keep it coming, Hollywood, real drama is king!
