Anyone else catch this two part trainwreck?  Ugh, God, the Stephen King curse continues.  This thing was abysmal.  I thought it had to get better in part two, but no.  It had one of the most hilarious climaxes I've seen in a while, with Pierce Brosnan being b1tchslapped by tree branches.  I'm laughing even thinking about it.

Also, this had some of the most expositional, in your face, on the nose dialogue ever.  Pierce Brosnan and other characters would constantly stop to tell us what's going on.  And Brosnan's inexplicable Irish accent showing up every other line.  Man, they really phoned this one in.

I never read the novel, but from what I understand this version butchered the original beyond recognition.

I turned this off after the first half hour.
Everything that happened could've been summed up in about five minutes.
That pretty much told me the rest of it wasn't worth my time.
And thanks, Ryan, for confirming that.

But hey, at least you got a new interim Fins coach today!

My wife watched it and it was cringe worthy... Since when did Brosnan become a B-list actor?  God some of his lines, expressions and reactions were akin to something you'd see in a Trauma film.  I loved when he was touching the tree... And then later when the tree was beating him up... Oh, and when the old lady beat him up.

God this was hilarious.

It was also way too modernized... And what'd you make of the ending

(spoilers)

When cops were all about his estate and he and the little girl went for a canoe ride...?  Wouldn't their be statements and more important things to do?  I mean, this girls mother was just shot in the face hours prior to this event.  A woman was stabbed in the neck and died.... Ghost were haunting this place and causing all sorts of mischief.

A canoe ride isn't on the top of my list of things to do.

Another classic bit in this pop corn flick -- Was when she, the mother of the girl, came storming into his cabin and had exciting news and stopped her train of thought long enough to point out a picture with a, I've just been diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer, look on her face... She then proceeds to tell Brosnan that the man in the picture was who his wife was with.

This was a very important scene, because it let me know, because I'm stupid, that all is okay and she didn't cheat on her husband.  Why?  Because it was his brother and he... he was homosexual.

Let us not suspend belief for two seconds and think that maybe she and the brother did have sex, so she could have a baby and pass it off as Brosnan's kid because he couldn't have one -- And since the brother shares the same dna it'd somewhat justify it.

And another thing I hate about King -- All of his work centers around writers and ghost and things written on blank pages.  Gettin' old.

Move was so stupid... All of it.

Yeah, great ending.  Just seems the cops might have a question or two for Mr. Brosnan at that point, like:

"Say, what about the mother of the young girl with the bullet in her head, the cop you beat to death with the meat tenderizer and the two old yokels burned to a crisp after their pickup truck hit the diner sign that fell when hit by the lightning bolt?   That's about all for now, Mr. Brosnan.  Oh wait, what about the two ancient decaying bodies by the tree and the dead old hag in your bathroom that you plunged a pair of scissors into?  If you could just clear that up for us, whenever's good for you.  But for now, feel free to take a canoe ride with the young girl that you have no legal claim to whatsoever.  That'd make a nice poignant moment.  Have a fun day and we'll be going now."
