Was very hesitant to watch this but I'm glad I did.

I'll be brief here. A really good movie, definitely in my top 3 for 2012. I really can't understand the hate that some critics have though.

I hate rom-coms but enjoyed this a lot, mostly because it felt new and original and brought new things to the table.

Worth the watch, I'm hoping it's nominated for a few Oscars, the storytelling was top notch IMO.

... I thought you were ACTUALLY seeking a friend for the end of the world Mohammad. I'm disappointed

How I wish that Keira Knightley would've been my friend for the end of the world...

Wonder what folks think this thread's about if they're unfamiliar with the movie.
LOL!

Anyway, I really wanted to like this movie.
Quirky flicks like this getting national distribution doesn't happen often.
So, I like to see these indie breakouts succeed when Hollywood rolls the dice.

But I couldn't get behind this movie.
Good opener, but I felt the rest of the journey was too... flat.
And the fade to white bit near the end really irked me. I felt cheated.

Some lovely ideas on display, but it didn't gel for me.

E.D.

Script needed some work.  Lots of tonal shifts near the end, along with a non-surprise that just felt cheesy.  Some plot holes as well, but that's to be expected in a movie like this.

The beginning was probably the strongest.  Very quick and to the point, and extremely funny.  I like the whole concept of the world not falling *completely* apart.  After that it dragged.  Nothing of the rest of the movie is quite as strong as the first fifteen minutes.

For a rom com though, it went heavy on the comedy, and that I like.  It was a pretty good movie.
