Okay, for anyone unfamiliar with the event (or unable to read the title)...SPOILER ALERT...only one of the SEALs survive.

I have seen this movie twice now and after the first viewing I wasn't really blown away by it. I mean, it was alright but nothing more than that. Second time, though, it grew on me and I have to admit I think it's quite good. Simple. Extremely simple. But good.

The movie is based on the events that happened during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan, where a four-man SEAL team were sent to capture a high level Taliban member. Under way they run into an Afghan goat herder and his two boys. The SEALs debate whether to kill them and carry on with the mission, or to let them go and head back to base. Right or wrong (I think they were right - but I understand those who think they were wrong), they decide to let them go and on their way back, the Taliban catches up with them and a MASSIVE fire fight breaks out. I'm not kidding, the fire fight starts about 30-35 minutes into the movie and it basically doesn't end until the movie does.

If this reminds you a bit of Black Hawk Down then I'd agree, except this one is way more gritty (BHD is still a far superior movie though).

The acting isn't particularly good (I mean, c'mon, it's Marky Mark and Taylor Kitsch), but Ben Foster and Eric Bana are quite good - so is the guy who plays the Afghan that helps in the end.

The movie does have moments where it gets a tad too patriotic, but I understand the reasons for those scenes and I can accept them - and they didn't hurt the film overall in my opinion.

At the end of the day, I was entertained and felt it was a story worthy of being told.
