Surprised not to see a thread for this already, but then again, you guys and gals aren't too good about posting movie reviews.

What can I say here other than THIS MOVIE KICKS SERIOUS ASS AND ARSE!!!  Frickin' great flick and the kind that must be seen in a theater in 3D and/or IMAX.

I really enjoyed everything about this and I rarely say this, obviously.  The look is amazing, the action downright crazy and beleive it or not, I actually enjoyed the characters as well.

Eva Green just rocks the house as bad girl Artemisia.  I'm sure some will say she's over the top, but for me, this is what an Antag is all about.  She's so hot and cold at the same time, it's amazing.  And, her sex scene is also quite amazing.

IMO, everyone brings it bigtime here.  I'm surprised at the negative reviews, but I'm also surprised at the positive reviews that pure shite garnishes.

If you've thought about seeing this before it leaves the 3D theaters, go now this week and thank me later.

I think I can honestly say that this is 1 of my top 10 favorite films of all time..after just 1 viewing.  So much fun, so much blood...what more could a freak like me want?

The first one I thought sucked. One thing I don't get about these Zack Snyder movies (Rise not being his) is why does he get sole directorial credit and why do these movies even have writers (300 and Watchmen)? The dialogue is exactly the same as in the graphic novels, every word is the same. In Watchmen every word, every shot is the same as the comic book. It's basically the comic book brought to life in movie form. Everything is identical.

Why do you need screenwriters, when all they are going to do is transfer the comic book word for word in screenplay format. Get some intern to do that and credit the original author.

If you thought the original 300 sucked, you're probably not going to like this either.

I haven't read the graphic novels, but there is surprisingly alot of dialogue in this one.  Sullivan Stapleton, who plays the main Protag Themistocoles, is quoted in IMDB as saying he too was surprised how much dialogue he had.

Is it great dialogue?  Probably not, but it doesn't need to be great.  It's efficient, and it gets the job done.

Writing credit went to Zack and Kurt Johnstad, who also wrote 300 and Act of Valor.  This is based on Frank Miller's graphic novel "Xexces", but Xerxes doesn't really do all that much this time around.

This is Eva Green's movie and IMO, she really delivers.

I haven't read "Xexces" but 300 the graphic novel and the movie are the same. The movie is a bit longer though. All the lines are lifted from the graphic novel.

But Watchmen is a identical copy. Every line of dialogue is the same, every shot. Except for the ending. Somehow they came up with a better ending in the movie actually, it makes far more sense.

I may have gone a bit over the top when I said that I thought 300 sucked. It just didn't live up to the hype for me. The story seemed very lacking, and the movie felt like it was cut short.

I haven't - and won't - see it but i watched ther trailer and it looked cool. I did like 300.

A review of this new one though, said that it sorta destroyed the 'feel' of 300. Not sure what that mean. Anyway, if Jeff liked it, then it must rock! lol

Anyne out there read 'Gates Of Fire' by Steven Pressfield? A novel which tells the truer tale of the events of the Battle of Thermoplyae. It has been optioned to be filmed and hopefully will be ini the future. It wiil shown the battle iin the full grittyness without the style and flash of 300.

I was one of the ones that helped hype the original. I'll definitely be seeing this one.

And it is.  It truly is.  It's quite graphic, and as much of this movie is, it's also quite over the top, but for me, it totally worked.  She bares her girls and they're pretty nice girls at that.

Fell in love with Eva the first time I saw her in Casino Royale. Can't wait.

Seen the sequel. Kind of a mix bag for me. I loved the original. And I think I know why I loved the original and somewhat liked the sequel. It’s the fuckin’ Spartans. The first one was filled to the brim with Spartans. Ground battles galore, just had that epic look to it. Not to mention some cool ass tag lines to go with it. “ Spartans! What is your profession? Ahoo! Ahoo! Classic. It had more of graceful mythology too.  

This one, barely no Spartans. Athenians. And I understand the sequel had to follow in the steps of history, on what happened next. Even though they had that chick in there who was just flat out made up just to serve the story. She played the role good though. I’ll give her that.  Especially that intimate one on one with Themistocles. Whoa..

It just all felt different. Basically all ship battles, except for the beginning. I felt like I was watching Pirates of the Caribbean. Some of those battles were cool because of the strategic mind of Themistocles. I definitely dug that. And I’ll give a story like this some latitude, but c’mon. That fucking horse at the end…Jumping off ship to ship, then into the water…then back onto a ship. How is that even possible? How is that even remotely possible.

If I was going to give it a star rating. I’d say 2 and half maybe 3 out of five. The original is a 4, maybe a 4 and half. Just because it’s that bad ass.

I walked out halfway through.

The movie wasn't that bad, but I wasn't really into it and had things to do.

The first one had a different feel at the time. It was something new, visually. Sin City, 300, Sky Captain were like the only movies shot fully on green screen. The fighting, the whole visual feel of the original 300 felt like something different and special at the time. The was part of its impact.

After it, the Spartacus series came out and since 2007 CGI fighting and HUGE budget movies have become the norm. Big battles with slow-mo fighting, CGI blood isn't anything new now.  So this movie felt very "BEEN THERE DONE THAT".

My thoughts are: movie was little bit better then RoboCop if you take in consideration that robocop was utter peace or remaid shit.  Only nice scene was sex scene in 300

Damn. I think the makers of 300 seem to have missed that what made 300 great was the land battles and enormous odds they were fighting against. Rather than following history in sequence, I would have chosen another great battle in history. I didn't think they were going to follow a pHucking timeline... how boring.
