I don't write reviews, below is just my rambling feelings. But I urge Sci-fi fans to give it a go.
This is a Korean space Sci-fi (Its a mix of Korean and English - you have the option to have the Korean dubbed over but I chose subtitles instead as the dubbing annoys me)
The visuals and the atmosphere is fantastic, the characters are likeable (Bubs being my favourite), the plot is pretty basic space sci-fi fare but the execution is a helluva lot of fun. It veers into the goofy on a number of occasions so don't go into it with your serious cap on. But the whole thing was fun, entertaining and above all it was different, the most fun I have had watching a Sci-fi in a long time.
There are a couple of moments where they cut away and something happens off-screen and you only see the aftermath, you will be left saying "WTF?" but stick with... hopefully you will have as much fun watching it as I did.
I'm glad you threw yourself on that grenade and gave it a go. From the trailer, there was nothing that remotely hooked me and I had no intention of watching this. I'll add it to my list and give it a shot on your recommendation.
Oh the pressure! Bear in mind that I am easily pleased when it comes to Sci-Fi lol
There are many faults with it, such as the constant exposition dumps, and the aforementioned "WTF!" moments. Sometimes I got the feeling that the subtitled translation wasn't actually what the characters were trying to say so I had to infer a few times. Something else was annoying but I can't say without spoilers.
Visually it was great, and there was something in the clunky, sloppy, goofiness of it all that made me really enjoy it - I had a much better time watching this than I did Valerian, and this had a fraction of the budget.
