Written by Todd Alcott based on the book by Lois Lowry. I'll go ahead and say it, this is maybe one of the best screenplays I have ever read. And usually I'm very picky. There seem to be many different versions circulating around the internet but I'm damn sure this is the one that's in production at the moment?

Not a lot to say, this was near perfect, so many things to love here. A must read, I'm really hoping this just doesn't fall out of production like many movies do, I'd watch this on screen any day.

My only complaint would be that the main character might be too young, some of the stuff he says just doesn't fit.

Anyway, a great read and very enjoyable. Breezed through this one.

I was wondering just the other day when they would make a movie from this novel. I studied it in Year 9 as a book study. Read over some of my essays on it the other day. Considering the themes and the general story, I'm surprised it's taken them this long to get around to writing a script.

Do you mind posting a link for the script?

Dan

Dan! Funny thing is, I also read it somewhere in highschool, can't remember when? But this was some time ago. It must be in the Australian Curriculum.

The script is pretty faithful to the novel except the ending which IMO, was as good as the book's ending.

This is really a great script, I'm surprised the writer's hardly written anything "mainstream".

I'll get the link up, it's not on the net, had to use my sneaky tactics to obtain it . Gimme a few mins to figure out how Mediafire or Sendspace works and I'll post it.

Okay, Mediafire has definitely changed since the last time I used it. Sendspace was a lot more forgiving though.

Forgot to post a logline for the script so I'll try and make one up now.

In a seemingly utopian society where all forms of human hardship and choice have been taken away, a young boy is chosen to become "the receiver of memory" on his twelfth birthday, a job that requires him to keep the emotions and feelings that his community eradicated long ago.

No worries, Jeff. Sendspace is a bitch to navigate, it took me a fair 5 minutes to find which one is the real download button.

Prepare to be amazed, at least I was . I'll send it to you now.

I wouldn't mind reading it, if it isn't too much of a problem to send it to me. I'd be grateful.
