Some people... in fact lots of people are simply full of shit. They tell stories as they believe it will make themselves seem more interesting.

I have a rule... whenever anybody is talking, they're full of shit until proven otherwise.

Quoted from Barry_Katz
LC - to answer your question, that is not my IMDb page, but I am frequently mistaken for him.  In some ways it works in my favor   I can tell you that I have had a number of shorts produced, though, and have produced a few myself.  I'm not opposed to producing this one if nobody else shows any interest.  A number of my shorts were produced directly from SS exposure, so we'll see what happens.

Fascinating about the urban legend, but man, it's still so bizarre!  The woman who approached Tony in the mall and told him this happened to her... what do you think her M.O. was?  To seek attention?  Or is it possible that some psycho decided to turn the urban legend into reality after hearing about it?  Or then again, maybe this did really happen and inspired the urban legend?  I guess we'll never know...

This stuff happens all the time, especially on social media. You see people put Facebook updates swearing something freaky like your story has happened to them but when you check it out, it's just a chain mail or completely made up. Some people just want attention, others want to see the world burn

WOMAN (CONT'D)
How did you get in my car? I know
for a fact I locked it.

- Would she be this specific given her shock and confusion? In fact, because of her obvious surprise we can already presume she had locked the door so that dialogue feels expository. As if you are explaining to the audience just how impossible it was for the Old Lady to be in the car. A simple, “Excuse, can I help you” or “Where did you come from” would do here.

WOMAN
My husband is expecting me home at a
certain time, and I'm already running
late. Let me just call him so that
he doesn't worry and then I'll give
you a ride, okay?

- Again, it’s all a bit long winded. How about: “Ok. But I need to call my husband first, he’s expecting me” or something like that.

“The woman closes the door, walks away.”

- Frail Old Lady or not would she just leave her alone in the car like that? I mean, not even without a moment’s hesitation.

Oh, ok, reading on, I see it was a ruse to call the cops, fair enough.
“The old lady resists further.”

- Wow, this Old Lady has strength!

“The officer grabs the old lady by the hair,
pulls off her wig -- it's a MAN!”

- Ha, I laughed out loud at this, it would be some shock alright. So either the guy is naturally feminine looking, is a dab hand at applying make-up or the Woman and Police Officer don’t know a dude in drag when they see one.
-
Seriously though, I would’ve liked to have known how old the guy was, a bit more in the way of description to see whether he could’ve pulled off such an extreme disguise.

OLD LADY / MAN
(masculine voice)
It's a good thing you called the
cops. I was going to kill you.

- And there is a prime example of why you should obey the Miranda rights and keep your mouth shut! Why would he say this now? Surely it will land him extra time behind bars.

Plus, you don’t need the wryly of “masculine voice” as his gender has been revealed by now.

Not sure on the veracity of the closing scene. Would he have gotten out of jail so quick, especially after the threat he made when cuffed?

Also, you say this is based on true events at the beginning so how are you privy to this? The implication by leaving it open ended like this suggests the Young Girl wasn’t as fortunate.

Overall, the writing is ok but I don’t really see much of a point here. I know it’s only a 4 pager but that’s no excuse for just presenting a scene with no real meaning outside of the twist. What are we supposed to take away from it? Don’t give a lift to seemingly benign Old Ladies who magically appear in your car at Christmas asking for a 5 minute ride?

If it is indeed a true case, it does just feel like you recreated it without weaving a story around it, creating a narrative. As a result, it almost comes off like one of those crime show reconstructions.

Also, Man-dressing-up-as-an-Old-Lady aside, how did he just appear in her car like that?

Col.
