Like many horror fanatics out there, I was eagerly anticipating this epic battle of the titans.  And though it's good, it is lacking some of the heart and spirit that could have truly made this a classic.

One cool thing is that there is an actual plot, and not just a two hour film with Freddy and Jason beating the living crap out of each other.  No, instead we actually get some reasoning for the insuing chaos: Because of a new drug, the residents of Springwood have forgotten the nightmare that was Freddy Krueger.  So, what's a demented child killer to do?  Why, ressurect a demented, horny-teen killing monster from beyond the grave of course!

Bodies start to fly, the dumb blonde opens her big yap, and the neighborhood once again remembers the name Freddy.  So, why do they fight?  Well, silly, because Jason is begining to get all the credit, hence taking it away from Freddy, thus Freddy losing his dream-killing ability... wow, who ever thought you would see two college prof words while talking about a slasher flick?

And so, the battle begins.  The last twenty minutes of this one kept me floored, my conscience fighting for whom I would root for in the end.  So, what's the problem?

The God-awful, pig vomit they call dialogue.  I know, I know, it's a slasher movie, what did I expect?  Despite that, this makes "Urban Legend's" script look like pure gold!  And, most debated of all, the ending.  And though I will not spoil it for anyone, I will say this: it damn near ruined the entire film for me.  Some say it comes off well, and that one of them truly did win, and the ending is only natural.  I say Bah-Hum-Shit... I wanted to see an all-out victor!

Here's hoping for Freddy Vs. Jason Vs... Ash?

Movie: **1/2 out of ****
DVD Extras: *** out of ****

For extras we get some pretty decent deleted scenes ranging from good to boring (as with most packages), a (better?) alternate ending, some production "stuff", and some alright commentary.  Not bad.

You should read this version I found online, I actually thought it was the movie till my mother told me otherwise, The ending had jason become the good guy killing fredyd in an awesome way and talking just a couple words like get out or run but he talked I mean that's a script

And there was a couple scenes where freddy was laying it into Jason with some stellar dialogue and funny things if you get the jokes

I was sort of disappointed with the kills. They just didn't have the creativity of Jason kills or the weirdness of Freddy's. The best ones, I thought, were at the rave. Nothing fancy, just Jason hacking and slashing his way through whoever was in his way.

Yeah and he was one fire, really on fire

That's a dedicated slasher/stuntman

Although 2 of the supposed greats of all time in slasher horror stuff are afraid of water and fire

Is it me or is Jason and Michael Myers basically the same type of character, both stalk kids and kill with superhuman strength

"Is it just me or is Jason and Michael Myers the same characters?"

Not exactly...

Michael Myers mostly is searching for a certain problem and kills people along the way while Jason just hacks and slashes anyone and everyone.

Also, Jason is dead and Michael Myers has not died yet.

I used to wear Spiderman PJ's to bed every night, then I woke up one morning and said to myself "Self, your to old for this spiderman bull." So I went to target the next day and picked up some Wolverine PJs cause man, that guy stabs people. C. Walken

I despise this movie and the whole "Versus" thing.

The DVD has some great extras which justified me buying it, as for the movie itself, it makes me embarrased to even own "Jason Goes To Hell".

I would reccomend hardcore fans of both series to get this, and if you like extras on DVDs, then this has a fair few. Probably to make up for the lacklustre script of the actual movie.

I dont like Freddy, Im a Jason and Michael Myers fan, but the whole film is a joke from the start in my opinion.

I like and enjoy Nightmare On Elm Strret 1-4, but Freddy is not my kind of guy since then.
Jason, I love from Friday 1-8, the other two are trash.

New Line own Freddy and now Jason, so what a surprise this turned out the same.

I'd advise anyone who likes Michael and Jason and think about writing another fan fic to commit suicide right now or just never post it here.

I didn't hate this film, that's about as far as it goes, it's a... guilty pleasure
