I saw The Savages last week.

Philip Seymour Hoffman plays Jon Savage a college professor and Laura Linney plays his younger sister Wendy an aspiring playwright. Jon and Wendy are brought together when their elderly father (who is going senile) has to find a new place to live after his girlfriend dies and her family want him out of her apartment, so they can sell it ASAP. This dramedy held my interest through out and was an interesting meditation on death and how society deals with the elderly. As bleak as that may sound to some, there were interesting sub plots and a few laughs to be had a long the way to a satisfying ending.

For some reason they changed the release date of this here in Australia and it's now going to be released on July 24.
