This was the very first Friday the 13th film I ever watched, so naturally this film has a special place in my heart. This entry started a few trends in the popular horror series. The first being that it introduced zombie Jason. It also turned the series into a black comedy.

The plot this time around is pretty tired. Tommy Jarvis accidentally resurrects Mr. Voorhees and turns him into an unstoppable killing machine. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda, Jason makes his way back to the camp(now called Forest Green) and offs the unlucky counselors who cross his path. It should be noted that this is the only Friday the 13th that actually has kids at the camp.

The story isn't anything great, but luckily it falls back on some of the better characters in the series. Tommy is well developed and you really root for him. The sheriff and his rebellious daughter are also well written and acted.

Let's get to the good stuff, the gore. Well... there actually isn't much. Most of the kills are off screen, and the ones that aren't are weirdly bloodless. There's a sweet RV double kill. There is also a back breaking scene at the end that is pretty awesome. Overall though, it's pretty tame when compared to what came before it.

The movie does have a great ending though. It was actually pretty intense. The acting and directing is probably some of the best in the series. This sequel is such an unbalanced mixture of good and bad, it makes it kind of hard to review. When it's good, (the ending), it's great. When it's bad, (the paintball scenes), it's horrible.
