It may be hard for you to find a copy of this Swedish television series with English subtitles (if you don't know Swedish) but if you are a sci-fi buff I would definitely recommend giving this a watch.

This series takes place in a parallel present where robotic technology has evolved to the point where people start to have emotional relationships with their robots.  One rouge group of robots (with no owner) seek a way to integrate with the human race - or maybe defeat them - or maybe just survive.

There's a lot of discussion about sex with robots (since this is Swedish after all) but there is also a lot of philosophy about what makes us human and gives us rights.  Should robots have rights?  Should they be paid for their work? Or one of my favourites, can a robot find God?

There are a large number of factions in this series ranging from the govt, to the hubot (that what they call them) owners, to the hubot underground, to the hubot haters and to the outlaw hubots.   They each have their story and all of them are told in this surprisingly slick series.

Good luck in the hunt for it.

I watched the first series of this again recently. It was heartening to see it stood up to well to a repeated viewing.

You wouldn't think Swedish sci-fi would be much good. But this is surprisingly well done, as good as their crime thrillers, in my humble.

The Scandewegian setting also gives it more edge, an other worldness. I can't see this working half as well if remade in English.

Just started on the second season and things have upped considerably. I'd recommend this to anyone searching for decent sci-fi. God knows, that can be a painful hunt.
