Dear Ryler, I know that laundry sometimes seems never ending . . . . . IMHO you need to show just a tad of Mara's previous (as flashback(s) ) to link in with the stuck purgatory cycles. The Custodian should say less (he points at other patrons maybe) until his reveal exposition.
"She looks around and the laundromat is filled with columns of women, all sitting cross-legged." I think standing, shaking, flapping, folding and tossing clothes into their baskets would look visually better. All best -
